My service maintenance menu states I have to:
    "lubricate Propellor shaft"
    &
    "Tighten propellor shaft bolts"
    Every 16,000 km
Stealership will propably charge me to much so I will use them for my free oil changes and do the rest of the maintenance myself. Except I dont know what the propellor shaft is. If you guys shed some light on this subject for me it would be greatly appreciated. I didnt find anything through a quick TW search
    ALSO,
I found it weird that theres nothing on the schedule about checking the tranny fluid, and since its a pita to check ourselves and there being constant complaints about low fluid, why is there no transmission fluid checks.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I think it's that big round tube thing that sticks out the back of the transmission.

If you look closely at the back of your truck you should find one of these.
    This is what they lubed.

(FYI, it should be the shaft that goes into the front differential.)

They're your drive shafts. You can do it yourself. There is a thread or two on how to do it. Not a big deal.

I've never had the prop shaft bolts loosen up. I know they say to check the torque, but every time I have, they are solid tight.

It's either going to be the Driveshaft or the Transmission output shaft. Based on the fact that the output shaft is a non servicable item and does not have any lube or grease zerks (obviously) I'm going to go with Driveshaft.

New brake fluid every 48000km? Seriously? My old 2003 had 280000 with the original fluid. :notsure:

One can never have too many light bars.
Propeller shaft is a fancy word for a driveshaft. If you look around on this site you'll find exactly how to lube it up and then some.

I see you posted in kilometers so I assume you are in Canada. I believe the last service check I did on my truck the dealer wanted $24.95 just to lubricate the propeller shaft. I am thinking it takes a few seconds to do and about a nickels worth of grease. There is probably another couple dollars thrown on for shop supplies as well to clean the grease gun tip.

They probably just put it in their computer and it said it was a 15 min job which is about right. The only fitting thats a pain in the ass to get to on the front driveshaft closest to the t-case. I had to remove that plate to get to it. Not hard just annoying considering it takes 3 minutes to lube every other fitting combined.

Do you need to know, or care?
OP, don't think it's too expensive for the maintenance. My dealer charges $70 for the service including oil and filter. They did all my service on my '13 and when I traded it on I got a better dollar for it because they could classify it "Toyota Certified" because they had all the service records.
So maybe like an extra $20, worth it to me, but that's just my opinion.

I think its the same. I bought a grease gun after I read the "grease your u-joints" thread and did the driveline, except the one under the heat shield infront of the transfer case, the guys on here were right tho, my driveline musta been dry because i got quite a few squeezes in there... Also going to invest in a torque wrench.
Im just using toyota for their free oil changes. Everything else I can do. But I will be inquiring what the propellor shaft really is.
And hopefully they will check my tranny fluid for free.
    Good responces guys lol
    thank you

Yeah you could end up with stuff splattered everywhere and you wouldn't want to make a mess

Do any of you guys know if I need to take my aftermarket skid plates off before I take it in for scheduled maintenance down the road or will the dealership do it?
