I did some searching, but I didn't find anything that answered this. I'm also bored and looking for some discussion: Can you cause damage or increased wear with incorrect use of the sport shift? If so, is "incorrect use" more nuanced than redlining and being stupid with the gears? I know it isn't a true manual, but it achieves similar goals. Specifically, I have been switching between sport and drive more since I got OVTune, and it got me thinking about wear and tear. I like to use 4th to climb hills on the highway (60+ mph). My current technique is to get on the hill in D and then switch to sport shift, which puts it in 4th. Once I get to the top of the hill, I pop it back in to D. I guess the follow-up would be should I just stick to sport shifting all the time and stack gears in order? Would it be better to shift up to 6 before going back to D at the top of the hill? Am I overthinking this? I live in the Texas Hill Country, and our highways are like roller coasters with some big hills, so I use it quite a bit. For the record, even with OVTune my foot is too fat to reliably get it in to 4th at highway speed in D: I can always manage to find 3rd and a case of whiplash.

Nah, it wont damage anything once you find out it is not a "sport" shifter...

Yeah I would think it's not doing any damage with that. It's not like a manual where you could prematurely wear out the syncros just by resting your hand on the shifter.
