    Hi,

I've been trying to research the correct radio replacement antenna for my 2001 Tacoma Xtracab 2WD (2.4L L4 SOHC 16V). After a Google search, there are all kinds of antennas showing up for my truck, but many of them seem to be universal. The problem is that the one currently installed on my truck is on an angle (not straight and perpendicular), probably because it is not specific to my vehicle.

Does anyone know the correct radio replacement antenna (non-motorized, complete antenna with all mounting brackets, etc) for my 2001 Tacoma? During my search, I did see something about a fender mount antenna which I assume might be what what I'm looking for.

    Thanks in advance!

are you sure it isn't just the antenna is bent?

the only angled Toyota antenna I know of is on some cars where it follows the windshield pillar post like on older corolla

post a picture of what you have so we can see it.

beyond that, people here sell off spare parts all the time so check the for sale section and make a thread to ask for what you need if you don't see anything.

also think about other stuff you might need as well, everyone has a list of little knick knacks they would like to replace on their trucks and someone with a parts truck will have everything you need

I think OEM is best. The one on my '99 six-lug is a thin, black whip. I get MUCH better radio reception on it, than my other vehicles.

Sorry keakar, but I think you misunderstood me about a 'bent' antenna.. basically I was trying to say that it does not mount 100% vertical - probably because of the 'universal' mounting hardware.

    I have attached a picture.

    Thanks

ok, unless its mounted backwards then you need to replace it with the factory mount so it fits the fender, you cant "rig" that and have it look nice but I suppose you could make an angled spacer if you use a dremel tool on a pvc end cap like this http://www.homedepot.com/s/1%252F2%2522%253A%2520pvc%2520end%2520cap?NCNI-5 and it might look nice enough to be to your liking.

you need to buy it at the dealer (super expensive like $75) or get the complete setup from the used parts sellers here for about $20

I bought this one for $16 and seems to work better than my factory antenna, I love the look.

Gil, the antenna assembly part # for 2001-2004 Tacomas is listed as: R 86300-04050. That assembly contains the mounting bezel, nut, and antenna mast. Should be able to order from any Toyo dealer..

All, thanks so much for this information! PS - sorry for the delay, but apparently I'm not getting the notification emails from this forum.

Do you have the make and model number off hand for this antenna? If not, no biggie.
