might be a dumb question but... how/where do you lift the truck with a hi lift jack if you don't have sliders or something for it to lift on? What are your jack points for lifting to change front and rear tires?

You could use one of these which will help you get the truck off the ground enough to get a jack stand underneath. Only bummer is you have to carry a jack stand with you everywhere

http://www.hi-lift.com/accessories/lift-mate.html You're kind of limited otherwise. I'm not sure how well that would do for changing a tire being you'd have to lift the opposite tire or front/rear. I think you'd be better suited with an aluminum jack from Harbor Freight, SDHQ makes an adapter to give you more lift as well as a skid pad.

You think something like this Safe Jack thing would be better for changing flats and stuff like that? https://safejacks.com/collections/b...ack-bottle-jack-recovery-kit-with-bottle-jack

It seems like everybody uses hi lifts but it just seems like there are very very limited options for lifting unless you bring alot of extra crap and adapters. Are hi lifts mainly for offroad jacking use? i just want something to be able to change a tire if needed and something thats not huge and 60"

Hi lifts are not a lot of use if you don't have bumpers or sliders... I've used my front bumper and the hitch in the rear but that one was sketchy... You could use your stock jack and just carry a block of wood to place under it if it isn't tall enough...

That actually looks like a really nice alternative, if a bit pricey. You just have to determine how much height you truly need based on your lift. My stock bottle jack barely reaches the pinch weld so it's basically useless unless I have something to add height which I can't say I carry just because I have the hi lift.

As for everyday use, no I use a floor jack mainly because I don't have the room to actuate the hi lift handle. Off road/side of the road usually gives you more space for that. I don't have any adapters for mine either. It fits in my bumper cut outs and my sliders, though @Shmellmopwho makes a really nice slider adapter.

    Holy old-thread-bump batman! :)

The 60 vs 48 is an endless debate across all forums I've seen.

I started with a 60" Hi-Lift XTreme, then downsized to a 48" version. I can picture a scenario in which case the 60" would work when a 48" might not, but that's a once in a million years event IMO. 48" is easier to manage/store. Works for me.

I drill a hole in the Hi lift mounts that I make so you can run a cable lock through the hole and the jack to prevent it from being stolen

Do NOT do this. Whatever hardware you use to attach it will shear in an accident, and the Hi Lift will become a flying projectile right into your face.

that's next on the list.....although just a better deterrent as they could still just unbolt from railing but it gives the look and makes it harder to steal.
