Proper winch line installation?

I just picked up a synthetic winch line from Viking Offroad, and my winch should get here Friday. The paperwork that came with the winch line mentions that it should be properly loaded and tensioned.
How is it done? I can't seem to find any info on this.

With someone lightly holding the vehicles brakes attach your hook to an anchor and spool in the line keeping tension and keeping it neat. If you can't find someone to help you, find a slight hill and attach your hook to an anchor. Winch your vehicle up the hill, keeping tension and spooling neatly. Hope this helps.
