hey guys so I noticed that I was having to replace brake fluid once every few weeks and after the third time of topping off the master I thought I should look for a leak. I found it in the back of the truck coming from the proportional valve. Anyone know a cheap place to buy a replacement? Also I noticed with almost all of the replacements they don’t come with a new boot can you you the old one? If not what’s the part number to buy a new boot?

    Thanks again

Google "1st gen tacoma rear proportioning valve"

You'll get sources and ideas about relocation, which may be something to consider.

I took mine off and took it all apart, cleaned it up and put it all back together,,, very clean,, can't stress that enough, and it is working fine and has for 3 or 4 years now. You can't buy a kit for it so you have to be careful,,,,, AND I could be totally wrong on this part but, it's a "pass" through for the fluid, it's not a dead end per se like a wheel cyl. or a caliper. I think this is the reason it's working, it doesn't see the terminal pressure,,,,, IMHO, could be wrong though but it was cheap enough and it didn't take that long. Not complicated and a just a few internal parts.

Apparently, there is a OEM kit of replacement boots for this valve.

I can't tell what exactly is leaking in the picture.

If it's a line that has bubbled and rusted through, then bend and flare a new line.
If it's leaking at the fitting, then wrap the threads in teflon tape.
If the actual valve is leaking from the body or some other catastrophic way, you could try soldering/brazing/welding it or just buy a new/used one.

I think I’m gonna get a new one but do I need a new boot? Is the boot just a dust cover or does it have to be replaced.

It's a dust cover primairly, if it's not torn go for it.

Is there any component it’s covering besides the prop valve? That I should also replace?

Should I just order the replacement valve or is there other parts I should get?

There's a bunch of threads in the past on this, I was even in them and I don't remember that, but that's what happens when you're 70 yrs. old.
I don't think they sell the guts for them, you'll have to pull it apart, I think and clean up the guts and reuse them, it's not that hard.
Here's a kit I found, pretty cheap, but it appears to be just the boots and the bushing with mounting bolts, up to you if you want it or not,,, these are all external parts I believe.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/0447760010...LOAD-SENSING-SPRING-04477-60010-/182398906476

Make sure and adjust it to the FSM, if needed when you get it mounted back on the truck, and flush your whole brake system with new brake fluid every 2 to 3 yrs.
