I live in PNW. I've had it on ever car I've owned where it's available. Brightens up the interior and can get some ventilation going on those rare sunny days. Even on cars that are parked outside at home and at work they don't leak, after 15+ years.

Back to the OPs situation. He;s asking if he should trade it in? I would say if you got the coin and willing to take a hit on it, go for it. He states he plans on "keeping it forever", Well forever is a long time to have something your not happy with. It's like have a truck painted a colour you can't stand, yet every morning you have to walk out side and look at it. and live with it.

    Stock and staying that way
I love sunroofs. T-tops even more. The available sunroof was part of why I bought a Tacoma. I only looked at the trim levels that offered it.

The leaks thing is way overstated.

just an FYI, these sun/moon roofs have sensors. If you leave them open when you shut the truck off, the truck notifies you on the dash with a message and a very annoying beeping sound that you've left it open. ;)

Sadly, keeping it European parking garage compliant.

The guy asked for the cons of a sun roof. I just listed them.

The biggest con would be the regret down the road that you didn't get the moon/sun roof!

I had a sunroof for over a decade. Never used it once.

    Not really.
I don’t like nature in my car.
Plus the windows down hurts my ears and blocks the sound of my $5,000 audio system.

Reduced sound deadening is another con.

Sounds like you could have saved money and bought one without if you would never use it.

    Nope. Truck came with it.

I don’t know if they make the Lariat trim without a sunroof (or the now panoramic roof) anyways.

I don’t buy new vehicles so it limits your ability to make specific choices on what the truck does or does not have.

We can't get an O.R. in Canada with a Sunroof! I was soooo disappointed, but still love the truck.

Especially in the winter when the sun heats up the interior, that little bit more.

I have been to 5 different lots and not one of them had a truck with a moonroof. I ask if they ever order trucks with them and they said they do but they but they don't stay on the lot. I just want to sit in one to check on the head room. If I could get the moonroof without the premium package I would get it for sure as long as I had enough headroom.

I have had vehicles with and without it. If it comes with it nice but I wouldn’t go out of my way to make it a game changing option. Also on trucks if you use a rack system or plan to get that “overland” setup it would cover it up anyways.

I think you’re putting too much thought into it. There’s other things in this world to stress about but I guess this is a first world issue.

Unless you are over 60-70 years old I doubt this will be your last vehicle. It’s just a truck and a Tacoma that every Doe or Smith can get. They come and go ;)
