SAE/DOT doesn't test or certify anything. It is an honor based self certification system where the manufacture declares their lights to meet the output compliance standards and marks the lights as compliant themselves. There isn't anyone to check that they actually pass as compliant. Meaning the compliance certification is only as good as the manufacture is reputable. Reputable companies will send their lights to 3rd party test companies like Intertek to verify compliance before entering production and few have the appropriate equipment to test the lights themselves. Needless to say companies selling dirt cheap China lights on Alibaba typically just rubber stamp that they are compliant with little to no actual compliance testing and they are often not at all compliant.

Wow...I did not know DOT/SAE certifications were done on the honestly policy. The more TW is unraveling with AlphaRex manufacturing and the fact they declined your offer to do a neutral 3rd party review makes me glad I didn't purchase a set.

    Update:

I become increasingly bothered that the taco community was disappointed in a fellow taco driver being an ahole on the road blinding people. So I wrote Alpharex and they responded quickly through their text message support line. Image shows conversation.

Bottom line there is a way to adjust the lights just didn’t know that was used for adjusting the lights. Additionally after looking at some of the advise you guys offered I didn’t account for my lift. My back end is slightly lower than the front haven’t tackled that cosmetic flaw yet but that can be contributing to the lights slightly upwards too. So tonight I’ll do the adjustment and update again. Thanks for the input.

I use to be a state trooper and was CVED certified where I got to know a lot more about NHTSAs federal laws and guidelines when it comes to highway traffic. Here’s a link showing they care and our beloved turkey Toyota was one that challenged their regulations for adaptive headlights.

I will say unless you’re driving with your brights on directly behind a cop then don’t expect one to go out their way to pull you over.

This is off topic to the post, but I wasn't sure how to jump into a conversation to discuss my issue i was looking to get input on. I have the AlphaRex Nova LED 4 cube headlights on my 22' Taco and I've had them for just about a little over 2 years( Just a few months past Warranty of course) and I haven't had any problems with them this whole time. Anyhow, my driver side low beams went out and no fuses or relays are bad bc I checked all the fuses and nothing was bad. I took the low beam relay out and both went out on the low beams and put it back in and only the passenger turns on. I don't want to have to look into buying a whole new set of lights$$$$$ and just trying to trouble shoot first before I end up doing what I don't want to and buying some anyhow.

Is there anything I can additionally check or is it something with the cubes or whatever controls the low beam cubes on the driver side????

Also, The High Beams on both lights work but just not the driver side low beams

Con: For $1500 I expected it to last at least 1 year... it did not. Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I have been trying to reconcile this problem with them for over 1 year, and they will not do anything. No refund, no offer to fix it (even when I live one city over and offer to drop it off), and after reading the rest of the reviews here on TW, I learned to just give up because that company is trash.
