pros and cons of upgraded uca's?

    i was wondering what are the pros of upgrading upper control arms?? why do you upgrade? and any cons??

    ALso whats the better brands??

    The pros are having caster adjustment so the steering isn't all twitchy & wandering in grooves or on uneven roadways. Also they'll allow more articulation for wheelin without stressing out the ball joints. The cons are the prices & still having annoying steering properties & possible broken shit in the middle of nowhere while offroading.

    Total Chaos, Light Racing and there are a coupla other brands not coming to mind about now, no coffee yet, lol.

    They cost a bit more but the will make your suspension more capable and allow your alignment to be corrected to the factory specs.

    LR UCAs have been getting good reviews recently. Total Chaos and Camburg have been regarded fairly well too.

    The cons are what a frigging rip off they are. There is no excuse for them to cost $650. You can buy an entire suspension for $650. Then you have to spend that much more for little A-shaped bars and bushings.

    A shaped bars and bushings that make your truck steer true when it may or may not otherwise...and the help suspension travel and feel.

    You can get all sour grapes about the cost- but anything worth doing is worth doing right and that includes paying for quality parts imho.

    I largely agree with you on doing something right, etc. My only complaint is that they are disproportionately expensive compared to other Tacoma aftermarket parts. They have no more technology, R&D, or manufacturing costs than any other aftermarket suspension part. In fact, they are comparatively simple to the technology in shocks for example. However, the price does not reflect that.

    If they were truly an technologically advanced product, the price wouldn't bug me.

    They are a precision part, made exclusively for the intended model years. A shock may be valved for a specific application, but many of the parts are used on other models from the same manufacturer. The UCAs are almost completely unique to their deisignated models. They also have to hold pretty tight geometric tolerences.

    Again, I agree. But just to be the Devil's Advocate, the same could be said of any moving part on a vehicle. They all must hold to pretty tight geometric tolerances yet they don't all cost the better part of $700.

    They're a rip off, and that's that. With that said, I'm still saving up for a pair.:)

    sweet, thanks for all the input. I might look into saving up. First i think im going to save up for my 6 inch lift.

    aftermarket uca's wont effect anything on a drop bracket lift right??

    All a drop bracket does is move the pivot points down. I can't see why UCA's wouldn't work equally well in that situation.
