The pros are the improved engine and the extra gear on the auto gear box.
Interior and radio are much better.

    The cons or draw backs
First is the cab noise, the problem is no insulation in the back of the cab and the cheap cab
vents that are prone to leak and let road noise from under the box in the cab.

I have a chain of 15 people in my email from this forum talking about not being happy with the same problem.

Sound meter registered 113 db's of noise under the cab rear window. If not for my dealer who insulated the cab and foam taped the vents with a 1 inch thick and just left 1/4 inch of opening.

(Directly against Toyota's order's of due no repairs).
This did help a lot but now the door gaskets on the rear access cab doors are not sealing well.

Second the worst draw back is.
The dismal rejects in Toyota upper management. They wrote me two letters how my truck was checked by the district supervisor and was ok which was a complete lie.

I will never buy another Toyota product and be a part of what is the chain of deceit and cover up. They tell the dealer what they want on the repair order.

So then I went to a second dealer the truck must have been marked in their system.

As it was returned with no repair order ticket was even made in fact the key fob was still in the same drop off envelope.

Then has anyone attempted an oil change? The retards blocked access to the filter with a skid plate that has two front bolts that are not too fun with out jacking the truck.
Then you need a 40 dollar cap wrench then you have add a retarded tube to drain it first.
Then the engine fill is a 45 degree angle. You cannot pour into the thing it needs
    a funnel.

Worst design's ever made. They have the cap tool priced high and hard to get to encourage
people to go in for service and not do it yourself.
Then why not use previous bilstein shocks on the TRD Sport again instead of replacing them cheaply and hurting the ride somewhat.

Then a lot of trucks get a free factory assembly line formed dent right on the above and slightly back of the gas filler door. Lots of them of on the lot have it same place.
My dealer paid a paintless dent guy to get mine out. Lucky in that came out completely. My truck has sat at dealers over 6 weeks total for issues since a 10/10 2015 purchase.
Toyota I hope you read this! You stink!

Sounds like your not happy. I would sell your truck. Don't forget to tell the buyer about all the problems you have had. I love my 2016 Tacoma.

Well since your not in my shoes your opinion
    doesn't count
I like the 2016 TRD sport too since the dealer fixed it somewhat but it could be a whole lot better if not for Toyota themselves.
I'm not selling for a loss this quickly either. Yours must be a double cab the access cab is the one having the issue.
With out the unapproved fix I predict a recall it's horrible.

I feel like people are being too picky.. I get that the truck isn't cheap, but if you wanted "perfection" go buy a Mercedes, one of them 500k ones.

I personally don't find the whistle of my 33's, the rattle of my exhaust, or the scream of my 2.7 trying to turn the 33's loud enough.

If you wake up every morning and drive to work in a truck you hate you're going to have a sucky life. Sell the truck or learn to love its imperfections.

I feel the title is deceiving. Should be something like, "cons and cons".

So the gasket on the door isn't sealing well after the dealer installed something against Toyota's orders? How is that Toyota's fault?

Maybe try another dealer if that one you're dealing with isn't giving you the answers you're looking for. We have three dealers that sell Toyota's around here, and there is one I would definitely not go to after dealing with their service dept and separately their salesmen.

OP if your looking for sympathy on this board you won't get any. This board is full of Toyota fan boys who won't acknowledge that anything could ever be wrong with a Toyota and if there is its probably your fault.

I picked up my truck on 1-15 after totaling my 04 Tacoma so far I'm really impressed it has less wind noise, more stable in wind and the ride is great. My 04 was a TRD this one is a SR and after receiving the insurance settlement I would not consider ever owning any other truck let alone that one protected me and my family with no injuries.

OP these are exactly the kind of fan boy comments I'm talking about. Not interested in your problems only wants to tell you how wonderful Toyota is.

So being happy with your truck is now being a Toyota fan boy? Nor did I see anywhere that he said how "wonderful Toyota is". I know it's hard to believe but there are some out there who like their trucks and haven't had any issues with them. I do agree that it seems like the QC is slipping and Toyota is trying to push these out to quickly instead of fixing some of these known issues. Maybe all us "fanboys" need to go over to the gen2 section and really rave about our trucks.

    Should've bought a 2nd Gen Toyota :boink:

Holy Shit really? One HAS to use an actual funnel????? WTF was Toyota thinking?

Funnels are hard to find nowadays. Do they have a Toyota Part number? Damm

Oh well I let the dealer do the services anyway so I don't have to seek out and buy an actual funnel....

I think it has more to do with the idea that someone should rant about something they chose to spend $XX,XXX on, test drove before they bought it, did some kind of information searching on beforehand and then pisses and moans about things like loud cab noise (which would be noticeable on test drive), oil filling needing a funnel, and a skid plate (on a 4x4 truck) blocking the oil filter - which is the point of the skid plate. To protect the underside of the engine.

"I won't buy another [insert brand].." and joining a forum of enthusiasts only to gripe and rant about your dissatisfaction NEVER goes well, nobody wants to read it.

Not sure your reason for angst against the forum membership here, any forum on any make or model would be the same way, someone who joins to complain is quickly ignored.

What interest should someone have in OPs complaint of skid plates blocking important drivetrain parts? Or the requirement of a funnel to add oil? Or cab noise in his truck?

Those are personal issues, not design oversights or recall worthy issues - aside from the cab noise (if justified). That said, Toyota isn't known for giving a damn about issues until well after they're new. Vibrations, steering wheel shake, and many others are officially "characteristics of the vehicle," and not fixable, per Toyota.

I knew all of that before I bought, I didn't complain about it after the fact after willingly and knowingly dropping tens of thousands of dollars on something I find to be an expensive disappointment from mile number one.
