Hm. I think your preference on how it looks should be the deciding factor. Unless you plan on lifting and getting bigger tires that don't clear them. Up to you amigo!!

They probably would have kept my fender flairs looking newer if I had them. Starting to notice little nicks and dings in my rear OR flairs from shooting gravel up off road.

    Cons of having mudflaps:
Less clearance for larger tires (small increase in clearance)
    Aesthetics? (personal choice)

    Pros of having mudflaps:
Protects your truck from rocks/mud/debris being kicked up by your tires
Protects other cars/people on the highway from rocks/mud/debris being kicked up by your tires (including motorcyclists and bicyclists). Ever have a chipped windshield?

That's about all I can think of. FWIW, I removed my front flaps for clearance but kept my rear flaps so I'm not the asshole on the highway throwing shit at people.

Nothing worse when riding my motorcycle than being behind a lifted truck with A/T tires and no mudflaps. You are literally pelting the vehicles behind you with debris. With that being said, the OEM mudflaps stuck and will rip off once you go offloading. Get yourself some rockblokz

Well, the factory ones are too long. They need to be trimmed. Also, they're prone to breaking.

Yall think that $150 is worth it? What special about these? I'm in the process of pricing out durable rubber and cutting them myself, that's why I ask.

They will fold between sliders and rocks without tearing or ripping off.

Hm... A flexible, rubberized plastic if that is a material that exists haha. They're rigid enough that they don't blow in the wind but flex under contact.

33k for mine! woohoo but then again its a sport 4x4, so I got what I paid for lol

But yeah, I've been looking around for some and can't get myself to get the OEM ones because I do go off roading every now and again and don't want them to be a waste of money if they rip off. However, I hate the flap in the wind ones too.

I think mud flaps are necessary if you want to keep your pant in good condition. I installed sliders and in one winter the gravel on the road has worn them to bare metal. And that's with flaps on. A body shop owner once told me drive down a dirt road and hold your hand down at the rocker panel and see how long you can keep it there. It will give you a good indication of how much abuse it gets.

For anyone interested. I have a set of used 3rd gen XL rokblokz mudflaps I'm getting ready to post in the FS section. I'm waiting on new hardware from Rokblokz. They are a bit beat up but work just the same. Asking $80 shipped. PM me if your interested

I've been driving trucks and SUV's since the 1970's. My Tacoma is the only one I've ever owned with mud flaps. In fact Japanese made trucks are the only vehicles on the road with mud flaps in the vast majority of the country. I've never had any damage coming from my vehicle or any other vehicle on the road because of them not having mud flaps on them.

I bought my truck in 2007, the front mud flaps broke off in 2010. I removed all of them at that time. I average about 1000 miles a year on gravel forest service roads and still don't have any body damage. Of course my tires fit INSIDE the fenders. With wider tires and wheels you might have a problem. But mud flaps won't solve it, you need fender extensions to cover the tires.
