Best answer by far! You're never gonna miss it until you do and then it's too late. Kinda like a condom and HIV.
Me I just live with it (the sway bar that is) and before long off-roading I take it off when I reach the dirt and put it back on later. PITA but probably better than ending up on my roof. Unfortunately this design doesn't lend itself to a quick disconnect kit. Maybe someone smarter than me will come up with a viable solution one of these days

I thought what you did provide was more than enough, like you said, if you want more, have at it and contribute.

I wouldn't doubt it. Especially if there was a roll over

    Not if you report yours.

And for what it's worth when I reported mine they asked if my new set up will have it still. So I'd say it matters to them

This is a totally different subject but you are kidding yourself if you think an insurance company won't try to blame things like big steel bumpers or large tires to get out of paying.

In fact I wouldn't be surprised if you had a sway bar on your lifted truck and rolled it and they blamed rolling on the lift.

If they aren't documented yes. But if you have it documented that you have them and they often just want to know it was installed by a shop you're covered.

At least with mine you are

    Documented by who? Your insurance?

If I did that they'd drop me.

To have all my armour and lift covered was $150 a year more lol.

Maybe time to shop around dude.
For what it's worth not having it documented and you getting in an accident that kills or injures someone is way worse than not having them pay your truck. You want to pay those medical bills and loss wages? Go ahead.

Mines all documented. All they wanted were receipts of parts and install for lift. Now they can't deny me coverage because of the lift

Haha. It was 10x that to cover 20k in mods for mine.

This is America. If I called them up and said I have a long travel kit. Steel bumper with a winch. 37's with beadlocks. Totally custom rear suspension. All installed by me. And nothing is DOT approved. After laughing. They'd drop me and make sure everyone else in the area knew as well. :anonymous:

I took mine off over the summer and barely notice it on road but like it off road. My wife says she gets sick in my truck now so I told her to ride in the back or get the window down before she pukes.

It's the missing pages. If you would have posted those we wouldn't be having this issue!

This thread "evolved" into something else. I'll just say that withholding information from insurance seems like it probably violates some fine print in their favor. But that's my opinion.

Safety item which is installed from the factory. Unless the OEM documents situations where they approve removal it will be considered essential equipment if anyone catches it missing. In an accident if you are accused of removing safety equipment the burden will be on you to prove that your removal did not compromise safety. If it has gone that far you can guarantee Toyota will be subpoenaed and you know they have data to prove why they install them instead of simply saving a buck by not installing them.

For the casual wheeler with his daily driver keep them on. If you have a trailer queen take them off if you feel it nessecary.

I had discos on my Rubi. E disco wasn't really good wheeling would loop your links around onto your tie rod when flexed. Manual ones were great off road and easy to tie up end links. The taco would by design need an e disco like the rubicon has. Where the swaybar connects in the center and articulates from there. My jeep I could run without it but could disconnect/connect and be driving again in 2 min.
