nada....maybe a license plate one day & BA bumpers
the center armrest on the gen2 was bigger & better
there was far more center console storage space on the gen2
    this was a step back

if yoda went as far as locking glove box & tailgate, why not the same for center console?
I guess this would put console vault outta biz?? lol

I believe the ones on bottom probably work better due to gravity, but that may be a theory. I'd never heard of one on the top of the engine until hearing about the 4.0L in the 2nd gen.

Also, you can disable adaptive cruise by holding the cruise button for a few seconds.

I love my 3rd gen, but I have a 2017 so many of those things you listed are different on mine. But it was a huge upgrade over my 2008 GMC Canyon, overall.

Pro: -the fenders are cooler on gen 3 than 2 but gen 1 still looks best
    -bluetooth
    -safer?

Con: -too big and bulky for the really tight trails
    -Wheel wells dont fit 33’s
-Cab is too bright at night even with everything turned down low
-this darn thing is always beeping
-it tracks your movements and speed
-tss is in the way if the prime spot for a bumper hoop bar
-dumb looking catfish mouth grille compared to the later 2nd gen grilles which look way better
-i prefer the old antenna to that awful shark fin
    -tiny ass cup holders wtf!

I took off an air dam once
    I’ll add a pro:
    1. Don’t have to deal with the 4L60E that was in my old silverado :bananadead:
Also i had a 4.3L with 285s and my 4 banger feels peppier than that was :anonymous: probably is cause im still on stock size tires tho

and every one of those "cons" were clearly visible when you purchased it, yet you bought it anyway.

I wish my 4R was in the garage. Guess what’s in there?! My damn 10 year old rav4 hahahaha. Good thing is it just touched 40k on the odometer. Other than that, idk why it’s in there.

Garage space is so valuable. My wife didn't have one growing up and quickly understood.

Living in paradise will do that. All the goodness is close by.

I think a 5th gen 4Runner with an open bed would have been more appealing.

IMO the complaints about the older trans tunning are 100% true. You're just benefiting from the most recent tune that is a huge upgrade over the previous ones. But for the fuck of it how should a RWD truck drivetrain operate?

sadly there are no other options partner...
-ranger is a 4 banger, Im too old for 4 cyl
-colorado is not a long term reliable truck
    -nissan blows, as does dodge
I thought of a tundra (hard to find, & kinda too big for my needs)
or 4runner (no bed!)...but in the end, the taco was the only option in the marketplace that suits my needs

my last truck (2013 gen2 taco went 400k miles in 8 yrs) needed to be replaced

hopefully toyota will read this thread & improve the gen4 taco accordingly
Ive purchased 8 brand new toyota's in my life, so I am loyalist & have plenty of feed back to offer

totally understand about the 1st few years of the gen3 tranny issue....but thats the risk one takes when purchasing a newly revised auto
my rav4 is a 2018 (end of gen4 build cycle, super reliable & not one issue in 2.5yrs & 23k miles)
my vette is a 2019 (end of gen7 build cycle, no issues in 1.5 yrs & 24k miles)
I always buy at the end of a generational build cycle...you get the best deal & reliabilty

even the 2021 taco I got is in the 6th year of build cycle, so its pretty well dialed in & kink free (knowing toyota)
if you bought a 2016/17 gen3, you were a tester of sorts

They won't read this thread, but if they did, you just basically told them they're the only option and gave them no incentive to make any changes.
