I posted the other day about my dilemma regarding the 2015 DCSB being available in manual only, and the DCLB being auto only (in Canada).

The only manual v6 Tacoma in town for me to try was a 2010 with 70k miles. It was a little rough on the outside.

I found the clutch very stiff. When I got back in my VW, I thought my foot was going to go through the floor.

The salesman said they are all like that. Is this true or could it maybe be just the particular truck I test drove?

the 6 speed in the 2nd gens are meh at best.... throw out bearings, crappy shifting habbits.

Stick with the Auto IMO, unless you REALLY want a manual.

Auto's have just as many complaints as manuals, especially when you get some mileage on them. I've had both, a 2005 dclb auto & now a dcsb manual, and I like my manual a little better. It does have some quirks, but I'm OK with it. i don't however, have a stiff clutch.

pretty sure i could do a search here on the forums and find probably 10x as many 6 speed complaints vs auto complaints.

And of the auto complaints 90% of the time a simple flush / top off of fluid fixes any issues.

And the fact that the autos are the majority and have far less issues....

just saying numbers dont tend to lie.

Like stated OP if you REALLY want a manual, go for it, if you treat it right and understand its quirks its a decent trans.

But if you dont have a preference, and want better mpgs.... auto is the way to go.
