OMG that is soo funny re-reading that post I give myself a  What I was trying to say is I don't even like the minor grill changes to the current platform. Lord only knows how ugly the gen 3 Tacoma will be.

I really really hope it stays the same beautiful truck in the grand scheme of things. My ideal 3rd gen would have a few nice tricks:

-flex fuel like the Silverados, changing from 8 to 6 or 4 cylinders while using E85 gas (20% cheaper fuel, though not sure how it all works yet)

-Diesel (Really just to get the MPGs up, considering what full sizes are getting, especially if you want a 4x4)

    -Slightly bigger cab

-Get on the ball with modern interior!

I really don't want a big design change. I love the way they look.

It's not a fair comparison because I have a 4x4 6-speed Taco and I'm comparing it to my parents' 2wd Ram (Quad Cab - so the "middle cab" just like my Access Cab)...but...

The Ram has 400hp and 417lb-ft of torque (read: it's WAY faster). Rides WAY nicer. Handles better. Brakes better. Nicer interior. Nicer sound system. More interior/storage space. And it gets (way) better mileage...

But...the Tacoma is more fun to drive (manual), has TRD OR and 4x4, is smaller (better for wheeling).

Honestly, I don't know why Toyota didn't put taller ratios in the manual. We gain an extra gear and have a shorter final drive that the auto's. I know...I know...dead horse.

How is a quad cab just like your access cab? I've never known a Ram to be faster than a Tacoma...Way better gas mileage? My 2wd Tacoma gets 18 city 22 highway. Is it way better than that?

Yeah...Dodge/Ford/Chevy are basically a luxury truck designed for cruising to the Rodeo's with your family in comfort and hauling tons of slop to feed the pigs...:D I prefer the simplistic attitude of the Tacoma with its' Off-Road prowess over any U.S. truck as well:D Even if it doesn't have full leather and all those amenities. Hell...that's what a car is for...:p

I am home. Ok well I'm at school at the time of this post. When I wrote the other post it was from home. ;)

I do enjoy some of the simple stuff that the taco has. But on the other hand I miss some stuff like an autodimming mirror, home link, LIGHTED INTERIOR BUTTONS LIKE THE STUPID 4x4 SWITCH, and an OEM locking tail gate that keeps me from carrying extra keys. It was something I accepted when buying the Taco. I'll retrofit/mod some of the missing features and I'll be happy.

The Quad and Access are both the middle-size cab. Shrug.

Do you actually get 18 city and 22hwy? Or is that your rating? I've done an 800 mile trip that involved a lot of lower speed back road driving and managed 18.5mpg in the Ram with the bed fully loaded with gear and 4 people in the cab (with stuff piled to the roof in the 5th seat). Also did an 800mile trip to Mammoth and back that involved 10% city and 90% highway, but involved climbing up mountains and stuff - not flat open road) and managed 21.6mpg doing an average of 75mph on the highway (with plenty of full-throttle passing in oncoming traffic - legally might I add it's a 2-lane highway).

Did a similar back road trip (albeit a little more hardcore offroad) and barely managed 15mpg in the Taco with much less weight in the truck. Going to mammoth 18mpg would be lucky...

Smaller truck with a smaller engine getting significantly worse mileage (20% worse). I'd say the Ram gets "way better mileage."

I'm not saying the Taco sucks, you guys forget I OWN A TACOMA. But I'm not blindly brand loyal. I recognize a good vehicle and since I do maintenance for my parent's vehicles I deal with all the problems on various vehicles. The Ram is literally the best vehicle I've dealt with - 0 problems. It's a great truck.

Can't compare mpg of 2wd truck to 4wd. 2wd trucks are almost always going to get better mpg especially with modern truck. Maybe not if you compare a 4cly with a v8 but you get my point.

    Pretty much.
Looks like they ditched the "T" logo in favor of going back to the pre-1993 badges.
    Limited came out for '14
Also keep in mind that those photos were taken in Texas... Gulf States and Southwest Toyota frequently put together "port installed" packages that are not factory, not available outside of those areas, and are not even "approved" by Toyota.
    I like that rumor!
These two wishes are in conflict.
You want better MPG, but you want Flex Fuel?
E85 sucks on power and MPG (15% drop), the cost does not make up for it (2% to 10% typical, some states are as high as 20%, you're in Texas, only 2% cheaper), and now the whole ethanol craze is starting to fizzle, once the government subsidies are yanked, that cost difference is going to flip-flop. E85 is already 12% MORE expensive in Oregon at $4.29/gallon.
    No shit.
I agreed with him once, but I couldn't tolerate the stress of BOTH of us being wrong :D
    See Fuelly link in sig.
