Proud owner of a 3rd gen! Some could say downgraded from 1st gen

    Hello!

I was banned for the last month so could not talk with anyone of interest on TW about the 1st gen tacoma that I had. 165k miles, bought from original owner, no crazy off roading, manual V6 limited. Literally the unicorn of todays options. It is sad I could not offer it up to the good people on TW for not having 50 posts. I get it, we dont want this site to be full of scammers but there are people out there with good intentions believe it or not. Anyways, I went to Arizona and picked me up a 3rd gen tacoma! 2018, original owner leased the truck and no longer wanted so I purchased as soon as he brought it back to the lot and the truck was certified! Flew out there for $40 and drove it back to CO. I have already changed the grille to an aftermarket TRD pro grille, ordered BakFlip tonneau cover (should get here Sunday, 01.03.21 which i ordered a month ago. I have also blacked out all the chrome. Switched these tires over to the 1st gen and took my old ones from the 1st gen. Falken Wildpeak Winter rated 265/75/16. My next big decision is the lift. On the 1st gen I did the typical 2.5" billys all around w/ OME springs & AAL. From my research on the 3rd gens regarding lifts, it looks like most stick to the same height (around 2-3") but there are so many more options people are choosing vs. the standard on the 1st gen. Im sure that has to do with the availability of parts compared to the older models. I'd like to keep the smoothest ride possible as it is a daily. The only "offroad" I do is, Colorado weather and forest roads. The 5100 billies are still an option. I have been curious about the Kings, 6112 w/ 5160 billies, etc. There are so many threads regarding this but either the lift is way overboard for the typical user or it brings good information with no pictures. I am very visual. I also understand the UCAs will need to change (any recommendations?). Understand I should do the ECGS bushing replacement when it comes to any lift? Also want to stay below 3" to help my CVs in the long run. Any other things I should be concerned with or informed of on the 3rd gen?

Thank you for all of your help in the meantime and happy new year!

Next step after all of those or maybe before all of those would be vftune especially if with bigger tires

    Working on it ...
I have owned all the “GENs”. Even the one before they started numbering them. SR5, SR, Off Road and now a 3rd Gen TRD Sport. While all my trucks where reliable extreme high mileage vehicles, my current third GEN was bought new just a few days over a year ago. 21,000 on it, I have to admit it is the nicest Truck I have owned. Extremely comfortable to be in and I work the truck. It hauls everything I have asked to haul and then some. It goes everywhere I needed to go, in the snow or off the road. It has yet to even break a sweat and I have had 2500+ pounds of hardwood flooring in the back of it with no issues.

Never quite understood the “no love” for the third Gen Tacoma here. I would never consider it a downgrade from previous GENs Mine is a beast and rides great. Like I said, I have owned all of the GENs at some point in time so I feel like I can do a fair comparison.

I also meant to add that my fab guy chopped those damn raptor steps off. Thank goodness. Chin kickers and rock grabbers. Good for nothing.
