i just replaced my PS belt, and noticed the belt rubs against the pulley attached to the AC. On the old belt, it rubbed off the inside corner of top layer of the belt (only a mm or so deep).
Has anyone had or heard of this problem? Immediately after replacing the belt, there was no squeal. But after several minutes of driving the squealing returned (maybe from leftover wd40 or belt conditioner I sprayed).
    Also it's the 5vz

I was thinking I may have over tightened the belt. If it was looser the ps pump would move to the right of the diagram and bring the belt further away from the compressor

Maybe. Sure the belts the right length?

    Disclaimer - no actual experience with a V6, I have the 3RZ

Is it possible that 2 of the belts are threaded across the each-others 'grooves' on the crank pulley?
That would cause interference with other components, and accelerated belt wear.

Unfortunately it would be hard to have them cross over. unless the individual seat is damaged on the crank pulley. (ignore the arrow, random google pic)

Frizzman, thanx for posting that photo.
Yes, it would be next to impossible, looking at that. Just a thought though.
Those belts are really close together, so it wouldn't take much for an improperly
mounted accessory (missing bolt?) to cause interference.

Try to loosen your a.c. compressor and move it back a bit, towards the firewall. That's the only thing I can think off. As another stated it shouldn't be rubbing.

I'd also check the A/C idler pulley. It has a mounting bolt, and adjuster bolt.
Perhaps one bolt is loose or missing. This would also cause squealing.

Since it did it with the prior belt, I would guess it wasnt just belt tension issues. Not knowing the background of your truck, possibly someone swapped on a different ac bracket at somepoint.

The t100 5vze bracket is different than the others and also most 3vze brackets will bolt to 5vzes and their pumps. The difference is that they dont position the pump in the same location. And T100 pumps are longer than other 5vze pumps, hence the difference in brackets.

I built a 5vze swapped early truck and I run a 5vze 4rnr bracket, a 93 t100 pump and a 95 jeep cherokee pulley and clutch to get it to line up. Still works great.

Do you have a friend who has a similar truck (V6 with AC and PS) and who has not made any changes to the AC or PS setups? If so, maybe you could compare his setup with yours?
