There are a bunch of games that don't involve shooting that may be of interest. "Little Big Planet," for one, is an industry first...and one that kids seem to like a bunch.

I second the "second controller" idea. It only comes with one, and only having one sucks :)

Hell Yeah!! LBP is sooo cool! My husband and I have it and we bought it for him last year.

I'll have to prob my sister for more ideas. I don't know what games he already has - he's limited to TEEN rated games. He has 2 controllers but I'm not sure if they're the standard ones or dual shock or whatever. I did buy him a Plantronics Voyager 510 headset -same that my husband has.

Just realized that I misspelled my own PSN id. It's "obie-two", WITH a hyphen.

    D'oh!

We had heard that 3D gaming would be coming to the PlayStation 3 next year although details remained sketchy. Well, we now have more of a confirmation of sorts; according to GameSpot, this unbelievable feature will actually be made available to all PS3s via firmware update. We have no idea when this might be, but we know we have to wait for the first 3D-enabled Bravia HDTVs, which are set to be available to consumers towards the end of next year (won't do you much good to have a 3D-enabled PS3 without a compatible TV). During a presentation yesterday, it became clear that every console out there would receive an update that would allow all 3D games to work. That line of futuristic games is still being planned but it's definitely on the horizon as well, so it's a bold new world out there. And remember, this technology will also be applied to certain titles that are already available; we've seen examples using Wipeout HD, for instance, and there are other games that may receive the 3D overhaul.
