It was amazing. 9.8/10 for me.

I also went back and watched that video you shared a few weeks ago and the guy was wrong on A LOT of what he said, but I know your opinion is unwavering.

I'm happy you liked it and glad you got your monies worth. But after watching all the game play and the way it was handled from the first one where the characters were so deep and you became so emotionally attached to, for the way all of those characters were treated all the way to the very end to only really come up with the conclusion that "revenge is bad???". Give me a fucking break. Compared to the first one? This one is a throw away story of nothing but revenge. Fucking weak story writing IMO. Then you have to play half the game as a person that you don't want to play??? Give me a break. Almost everyone that that isn't affiliated with a mainstream website or video reviewing site (IGN, Gamespot, etc.... which are corrupt as fuck btw) has shit all over this game and for good reason (at least in my opinion). For nothing to be resolved after it is all said and done and nothing is accomplished in the end where it is a revenge story the entire time with a huge body count and for what? Is that really the direction that you think Joel would have wanted to this to go down??? Whatever  Sure, there were a lot of answers that needed to be answered about Joels lie and the tensions that would arise between Joel and Ellie. But to dispatch Joel is such a shitty fucking way early in the game rather than expound on what could have been a much more engaging storyline. They had the opportunity to take it in a much better direction than purely nothing but a revenge story that had a shitty ending with nothing at all being resolved but a huge body count that ultimately didn't amount to anything in the end.

Yep... and I will keep on echoing that sentiment since they treated the original characters so poorly. Feel free to ignore my posts if you don’t agree with my assessment of how this game played out with nothing but a revenge story that came to a shitty conclusion.

I’ll refer my agreement with Angry Joe’s assessment. He and I both gave the original a 10 out of 10 which it very much deserved. Best game ever created. We waited 7 years for this (which in retrospect they should have left well enough alone). But they didn’t and that’s a shame.

I think your right. I've heard they are making a movie based on The Last of Us. If it's anything like the original story line it should be a really good movie. Especially if the delve into Ellie's past like they Remastered version for the PS4.

makes me feel better that it's HBO.

Anytime Netflix or someone else tries something like this it's a dumpster fire.

Yeah, HBO makes some really great series. If they do make it I hope it's a series kind of like the original True Detective. That is by far one of my favorite series ever made. If they can pull something like that off it should be great.

I've never seen that, similar to Chernobyl series? just a quick like 6 episode thing?

No... I think it was 9 episodes. It had Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in it. Chernobyl was a good series but the first season of True Detective was fucking amazing. They made two more True Detective series but they really should have left it alone. They could never top the first season. I didn't realize just how good of an actor McConaughey and Harrelson are. The story was amazing and well written. It is well worth your time if you get a chance. Skip the other two True Detectives because they are nothing like the first season.

Heres a little taste of just how good they are together. They have a complex relationship and are polar opposites. But it makes for a great drama. It's fucking dark though. And I mean fucking dark.

That game was awesome , not sure what all the fucking purse swinging was about or trying to convince everybody they're "going to hate the game" , I thought something really bad was going to happen like the whole final mission being behind a pay wall or something , glad I can think for myself and tried it

Since you finished the game you can now go back and read why I'm so pissed at the game. I'm happy you liked it. I've seen the entire thing and from someone that loved the first game and consider it to be the best game ever created, I just couldn't bring myself to play it. I've given my reasons without spoiling it. But I personally won't play it. Glad you liked it though.

Wasn’t it though? I’ve never been through such a roller coaster of emotions and felt like I needed to take breaks after playing a game for a couple of hours. Incredible.

    Yeah.
Same. And like @stronghammer I had to take breaks at times. Kept waiting for that moment when the stupid thing would happen that would make me hate the game, but it never did, and I just kept being impressed with how polished and immersive it was. Seems like some of the enemy AI near the end wasn't as polished, but not enough to bother me.

Sorry the interwebs ruined it for you, @RearViewMirror. I think if you actually experienced the game you would enjoy and appreciate it -- not sure watching and reading about it on the internet is the same thing. Bashing on a good game is going to get a lot more views than saying yep, it's awesome, just like we expected.

I took my time to try and explore every area I could and get every collectible, but I missed a ton. I'm going back through and I am STILL missing some things, dang it. I think I know what my problem is, though -- I didn't know you could bash in car windows and there might be something inside.

I have no doubt in my mind that the gameplay was polished at all. I know it's the best looking game ever to come out on the PS4. That part is not debatable.

And at the risk of beating a dead horse (which I'm GOING to do so skip over this post if you don't want to hear it). I watched the entire storyline play out. While you might have like it, and I'm happy you did, I have zero desire to play this game for the numerous reasons that I've brought up in the past. In my personal opinion? They should have just left it alone.

The reason you think that bashing on a good game is more than you think. All of the mainstream gaming sites gave it high reviews. But the vast majority of people that played the game and are highly watched on youtube for their opinions are the ones that I take more seriously. I've mentioned Angry Joe in the past and he and I tend to agree on almost every review he puts out. First game? 10 / 10 and it deserved that. If I could give it a higher rating I would. And we agree on this one (although he gave it a 6 / 10 which is too high to me personally).

This story is nothing but a revenge story and nothing is resolved at the end other than revenge is bad. They took some of the most beloved characters in gaming history and shit all over them IMO. If you had any connection between those characters in the last game and the way they treated them in this game? I'm sorry... I just can't get behind that. I won't be playing it and nothing will sway my mind on that.

    Yeah.
    LOL, :deadhorse:

The purpose of art is to evoke some emotion. The game did that well, over and over. Maybe the story, at its simplest, is just a revenge story, but I think there was a bit more to it than that.

Anyway, glad your AC is fixed -- not sure your PS4 would survive running in the heat. I think today is gonna be a pool day.

I'm just saying that the story could have been so much better than it was. Such a weak fucking storyline IMO. I'm sure there were some good parts to it and some of it was nuanced. But the story was just fucking stupid.
