PS4 / Xbox One... Reviews in Progress

SMH, 2020 for you. Can't even have a pre-order done right.

Lol... this is one thing that I don't think that 2020 has much to do with. It was the same way in 2013 when the PS4 was released. The Playstation outsells the Xbox by a large margin (as noted at the very beginning of this thread). When I started this thread back then I had gotten lucky and got a PS4 on launch day even though I didn't preorder one. They were nowhere to be found for months. Within a week you could find a new Xbox anywhere. I posted a few pictures of at least 6-7 new Xboxes sitting on the shelf with no PS4's to be found. Playstation is just more popular. Not saying one is better than the other since it really boils down to whichever one your friends play on. The hardware is essentially the same give or take. But it won't be noticeable enough between either one. Playstation just sells more that's all there is to it.

Covid may have played a small roll in the supply but I doubt it affected the actual hardware manufacturing process.

Had to run to Target to pick up a prescription and figured I'd give it a shot in the dark to see if they were accepting preorders in store. The weren't. If you don't get one at launch then it might be a few months before supply catches up with demand. I can wait. Running Destiny won't look any different other than the menu will load faster (which I hope with the new expansion that will be taken care of since they are removing more than half the game) and it being capable of running at 60FPS instead of 30FPS. Other than that... the graphics will look identical since it will still be running on the same engine.

Once I can finally get one I've found my new monitor. Read an article on Yahoo that this was damn near made for the PS5. 49" super curved monitor. That should be pretty fucking immersive. I'll be picking that up as soon as I can get my hands on a PS5

 

Holy FUCK!!! That thing looks pretty bad ass. I would love to sit in front of that and see what its like. Since I redid the guest room and now have a desk in there I could put that in there with the PS. I'll have to check that monitor out at Best Buy.

 

Yup... Mine is curved but not that curved and mine is immersive as fuck. I can't imagine what that one would be like but I'm going to find out.

 

Okay.... So it looks like Sony is rolling out the PS5 in waves. Originally it looked like all of the preorders were for every one of the PS5's available. But last night at 9pm EST Walmart put some more up for sale. I was able to get all the way to the checkout and all my payment info but I wasn't able to checkout fast enough and they were gone. I've no idea how many they had available but it looks like Walmart (at least) will be rolling them out over time. Here is the site if you want to bookmark it and see if you can get one. I've got a feeling that there are "bots" that grab them up as soon as they go up for preorders. They are literally gone within seconds. Just like Amazon. I tried and I know they had a bunch and they were all snatched up within a few seconds. There is no way that you could put your info in that fast. But... I'll keep trying.

Nah... I wouldn't worry. We all win when there is competition. Worst case? I'll buy a Xbox also. That's what I did when I started this thread. Microsoft buying up ZeniMax isn't really a game changer with the exception of Elder Scrolls. Fallout is a big game but Elder Scrolls would be the big seller to me. But think of it like this. Microsoft bought Halo from Bungie and created 343 Studios to keep the Halo franchise alive. And from what I understand it hasn't done bad. There have been some better than others but Bungie hasn't suffered at the lose of the Halo series. They just created Destiny.

The fact remains, you will buy whatever system your friends play on. The hardware hardly matters anymore they are so close.

 

The ONLY reason I would have bought an XBOX would be for HALO. Love that game. Elder scrolls, not so much. Not into that type of game play.

 

By the way, could use some help tonight if you and Grasty don't have a hell of a lot to do. I am trying to get through the Whisper quest. I've got about 1/2 way through the jumping part, I just keep getting lost.

Not sure what I'll be doing but I'll see what he's doing and we might get on. There's nothing I need in the game at the moment so I've just been playing on PC and I'm caught up in that right now.

 

I know there is nothing you need, thats why I was asking for help LOL.

And no, I know that once I get through the jumping puzzle I am as good as dead in the fight portion. LMAO.

It was confirmed that Walmart was the one that fucked up the preorders last week. Sony sent out a Tweet apologizing and said it could have gone smoother. There are going to be more preorders before launch so keep an eye out. Xbox on the other hand saw what happened to Sony and essentially said that if anyone starts preorders before the stated time their inventory would be pulled.

 

Almost got the Platinum on Ghost of Tsushima , probably need a couple more nights

 

One thing I forgot to mention about the PS5 preorders is you are going to be competing against “bots” when you try to order one. There are resellers out there that continually run bots to grab every unit as soon as it becomes available. As soon as it became available on Amazon the other night I’ve got one click buy on my account and it didn’t matter. The computer works faster than you can. Just the way these things go. Preorders are selling for well over $1000 on eBay right now I can’t imagine what they will be selling for once the physical unit is in their hands?

 

Who would actually pay 1000 for a ps5
