PS4 / Xbox One... Reviews in Progress

Looks like everyone in here is leaning towards PS4.

I'm not sure if I want that or the Xbox (have the 360, never had a PS)...maybe it's time to switch over?

My Wii U is fun but I want something that I can run GTA, batman, elder scrolls, metal gear, assassin's creed, etc. on.

I could live off something like Zelda or Skyrim for weeks at a time. Is there anything exclusive to either that would point me one way or the other?

I don't do much online gaming so that isn't much of a factor to me.

 

I made the switch from xbox this generation as well. Love games like skyrim (the whole trilogy of elder scrolls).

I really enjoyed bloodborne on the ps4, its an amazing game with great graphics and the gameplay is fun even if its repetitive.

Although i am still waiting for a game that really hooks me. Elder scrolls online is fun but hasnt really drug me in yet like the other games

 

Never played The Last of Us on ps3 so I got it for Ps4.All I can say is that its really fun and one of the best looking games on PS4.Took no time to Download,went really fast.

 

Anyone else strictly download games now?I like I dont have to go out and buy them.

 

I've got both and they're pretty much the same. I like them both, even though I play my Xbox One more because it's just what my friends play, It all comes down to a few exclusive titles here and there, a few small features, and personal preference. Although I did buy a PS4 solely to play The Last of Us. I gotta say, that is hands down the best game I have ever played, and it was totally worth purchasing a PS4 to play.

 

Cool, I may just go ahead and do it. I don't think Xbox has anything exclusive I will miss.

 

Thats how i felt as well. I loved the halo series up until reach, but after that it killed the nostalgia for me.

I never download games unless they are free. I want a physical copy in case I don't like it I can trade it in. If you download it... it's yours forever and if it sucks your stuck with a shit game you can't get rid of.

Thats how i feel too. They always offer shit, but then again do i rarely buy a game i dont like. Very meticulous about what i buy.

 

The last game I traded in (project cars) to be exact got me $30. I couldn't have sold it on eBay for much, if any, more.

 

It depends on what you want and what your friends play. I also had a 360 last gen. I waited a year to see where everyone went and why. I chose PS4 first, but I just got an XBONE about 2 weeks ago. Right away I can say that I like the idea that the XBONE is going for. The execution however is shoddy. The PS4 is very quick. Each action is carried out in less than a second. The XBONE, on the other hand, is app based as I can tell. Everything takes a few seconds. Loading the up friends list, achievements, etc. all takes time. Not to mention the huge install time on XBONE. On PS4 I can put a brand new game in, it'll install in about a minute, and I'm ready to play. Like I said, I got my XBONE 2 weeks ago, I played Halo Master Chief on it for the first time last week. Yes, it took a week to install a game.

Talking exclusives, the PS4 has the Xbox beat. Hands down. Playstation in general has some of the best exclusives. After playing The Last of Us, I went back and bought a PS3 to play through the Uncharted series which is made my Naughty Dog also. Great games. If you want great games as well as an entertainment system, go with the PS4. Nothing beats it. If you want a well rounded media player that also plays games, get the XBONE. Both are decent consoles, but the PS4 is the clear winner when talking games IMO.

 

I agree. The Xbox tried to be too much at once. I had both but sold the Xbox. The PS4 is a much better system in my opinion. Ease of use, portability (since I take it to work), and it's more powerful. Most AAA games are coming to both systems with a few exclusives here and there. Not enough for me to want to keep me from selling my Xbox though. Take Destiny for instance. PS4 has much more content the the Xbox owners have.

The only reason I bought a Xbox was for Titanfall which turned into Titanfail. After that there was no reason to keep it.

Yeah... I'm gonna pick up F1. Been playing the Witcher a lot. I think you would like it.

 

Yeah, the versatility of PS is impressive. Being a college student, I like the idea of being able to take my Vita with me anywhere on campus and still play if I want to. Honestly, the only reason I have an xbox is to play Conker's Bad Fur Day and Gears of War when they come out in August. Too many memories on those games haha

 

Thanks for the info. My friends have xbox but I never play online, would maybe borrow a game every now and again.

You make a good point about liking what Xbox is going for...I felt that way about the 360. To me, always fell short of whatever they were trying to do with it.

I just wonder if I should jump now or wait for whatever the refresh is going to be aside from the 1TB drive, which isn't all that important to me.

It's 100 degrees outside and I have a 5 week old so there's a lot of down time stuck in the house right now.
