I watched the preview of it last night and could not figure out WTF was going on. Is it that good?

 

Ok... so here is my impression of F1 15. It's a good game and pretty damn realistic (to a point that I'll touch on later). It has a career mode which judging by your play style would probably fit. Cars handle the way they should and the cockpit view is amazing. Feels as if you are actually driving the car with all the on screen vibrations. Pro mode eliminates any "nannies" so you have to be precise which I love.

My main complaint with the game is this. As you know I play the track. I also play the races but I'm more into setting record times because of my competitive nature. On Spa (one of my favorite tracks) I have set a respectable time of 1:50.104 (using a 15 F1 Mercedes) which I know I can better easily. The "real world" record for that track is 1’44.503 set by Jarno Trulli, in 2009. My issue is this... I don't know how the people playing this game cheat their way to the top but the person sitting on top of the leader board has a track time of 1:13.890 which is impossible. That ruins the game for me.

EDIT: On a side note. I'm not sure if the DRS is working or not. I "think" it is but it's hard to tell. I'll hit the triangle button but nothing changes on the screen notifying you if it is activated or not. The car does seem to gain speed during those sections but it would be nice to have a notification if it was actually activated.

 

I don't know yet. I will say that I like it as it gives you no guidance and you make your own path. There are no spoken words but the little time that I played it, it is a beautiful game. People that play to the end say that they talk about it for days. We shall see. It was $14.99 so it's worth the price to find out.

 

A 2015 car will never touch the 2009 track record , and DRS should only be available in the designated DRS zone , and whoever set that lap time is cheating somehow

 

Both me and my daughter played through it on the PS3, and I just downloaded it on the PS4. It is best played through in a single sitting, taking your time to explore. My daughter cried at the end, although it is not particularly sad. I am a big fan of the odd/artsy games (I loved Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and can't wait for The Last Guardian, and Okami I have played through 3 times), so I really enjoyed it.

 

Yeah DRS zones are in the track it's just hard to tell if it's activated or not. There is no indication that you have activated it other than you can see your thumb hit the button. The car does seem to speed up during those sections so I assume it's working as intended. And yes... that guy is cheating somehow which sucks.

 

Do you get a " time disqualified " or similar message if you exceed the track limits ? Maybe he's cutting across a run off area somewhere

 

Just finished it. I played with the network open and ended up playing with 6 different people throughout the game. That said... It seemed as they were just as curious about everything and explored as much as I did. Hard to really put my finger on this game. Was not what I was expecting. But it was well worth the $15.

It's pretty obvious he's cheating because the first 3 have similar times then the next ones are closer to real life times.

Yeah, it is quite different, but very engaging. I forgot about the random multiplayer aspect. Good art evokes emotion and has an impact on you, and that game is definitely art.

Thinking about F1. Not sure.

 

I think F1 would be fun racing against others (especially people you know). It's fun racing against the computer which is weird for me to say that but I still enjoy just driving the cars and racing the track. I'll run a track until I beat my fastest time. Then the process starts all over again. I miss the Ring though. I shouldn't have sold Project Cars just for that reason.

The little green light in the speedo / gear HUD graphic seems to indicate when the DRS is deployed

 

Weird thing is when you pass the DRS line it lights up whether you hit the button or not. If you hit the button once it stays green. If you hit the button again it goes off? So It's almost like the DRS activates automatically though I know it doesn't.

 

I wish there was a KERS type meter that notified you that you actually activated it
