That rack is super cool. I like how it is not sitting on or supported by the top of the bed sides or bed rails at all.

yep i didn't want any weight on the bed rails so Jake graciously listened to my design elements and then worked them up in CAD and executed flawlessly. I even have mounting tabs for the tool box to tie it all together. I can't wait to get it all painted and put the tent on to see how it all fits.

Jake, the tire is now laying in the bed, standing up just isn't gonna work for me so ill build some sort of shelf to sit just above the tire for camping trips, figure i can slide two camp chairs under just next to the tire, then cooler and camp supplies on the flat surface just above tire.

How are you securing the tire in the bed so it doesn't flop around?

for right now its just got the cable lock to the D ring at base of bed, so it will flop around like a guppy on a really short fishing line :D

Sick rack. Do you have some profile photos, like maybe from across the street or full side view?

On another note, how do you like your 295s? I'm not sure I'm ready to go all the way up to 315s and the 295s seem like a good next step. Did you need to regear?

You could mount your stock spare hanger to the rack and suck the spare up against the underside of the top of the rack.

But wouldn't that defeat the purpose of having it made high enough to use a rear view mirror :notsure:.

Good point. Although when he loaded for travel you can't see out of it anyways. I have had my spare in the bed for a few years. I am looking forward getting it out of there with my upcoming project.

    Probably.
Didn't know that was a consideration.
Never use mine except for homelink stuff, temp, and backup cam.
Headrests, topper and spare make it pretty useless as a mirror.
