Heat gun is your friend, combined with lots of goo gone.

I just took off one of my bedside stickers using a heat gun, it's was starting to peel. Came off easy, but the leftover residue I am still working at. Goo gone didn't really help. In the past I've used a combo of veggie oil and dawn soap, I'm gonna try that this weekend.

I had the same problem with old emblem residue in the past. Body shop guy used some big eraser thing on a drill and it came off in seconds.

Just curious why the removal of a clear bra is needed.... you can already see everything you want too :D:p:rofl::burp:

Anyone have experience with applying Line X to the truck for protection like as shown above? Saw this on another members truck and thought that not only did it look awesome, but may be a great long term solution

    Thoughts?

    Oh look, another mod....

Heat gun is the key. A few weeks ago I removed all the PPF from my truck. The door edge pieces, the pieces on the front and back of the bed of the truck. I used a lot of heat and a lot of Goo-Gone, and it got 95% of it, but the pieces on the back of the bed had residue left over. It was so bad that I called my detailer guy back out to detail my truck and asked him to get it all off. He did, but he said it took a lot of work.

My truck is barely 18months old, and that PPF was yellowing and had a ring around it, so you knew it was there.

TufSkinz makes something VERY similar, that I have been considering:

I think either one look great, and will really help hide the "Trail Rash" that a lot of Off Roaders get.

I had a friend do something similar on his f250. He said it definitely helped with protection from salt and such here on the roads in the rust belt. Cant speak on offroading. Looked fantastic too and it wasnt very expensive at all.

Im sorry guys, but what bra/film are we talking about here? My truck is basically brand new so Im sure its good, but Im just confused as to what is being referred to.

Effective but can add a bit of weight - if you get carried away with it.

Thanks for the PSA going to rethink the clear bra for my wife’s next car. Maybe I’ll fork out the dough for the ceramic coating instead.

The one on the hood of my truck is already moldy around the edges and looks like crap. I want to remove it so bad.

I had an off-road box trailer LineX coated, plus sliders for a Jeep. I love the product, and dirt and mud easily sprays off. It has held up VERY well. My only issue with the product is with those that apply it. I used two different shops and had issues with both dealers. Once it's there, if you don't like how or what they sprayed, it's a lot of effort to remove it.

Not even close to same protection, I've had both, the "clear bra" the OP is referring to is the crappy 15 year old technology 3M stuff you saw yellow back in the day from the port / factory, any of the reputable newer films (XPEL, STEK, etc.) will not yellow and are backed by a 10 year warranty if maintained properly will look as new as day one. Ceramic will protect it from swirls, contaminents, etc. but will not protect you from chips, scratches, road rash, etc. like PPF will. Even better would be to PPF then ceramic coat over. I have had both trust me the ceramic your wifes car will still have paint chips galore a few years in without PPF.

Y’all need to use a steamer to remove PPF. It’s way way way better than a heat gun. I’ve removed 15 year old clear bra in one piece just going slowly and lifting the film as the adhesive softens up
