I posted this in the "what did you do to your 1st gen today" thread, but i think i bears repeating. Read down for the part numbers you need.

I have a 2000 2.7L Prerunner with a Aisin 30-40LE transmission. This is a direct replacement for the more common A340E transmission. From the best i can tell, this was used in some 00-01 2.7L Prerunners.

The internals are exactly the same, except 1st gear is 2.531 vs. 2.804 for the A340E. According to Wikipedia.

Replacing the A/T filter took and extra two days because i was sent the wrong filter kit from my parts counter. Its not their fault, as their system gave the same compatibility with my truck as my research, as well as Amazons compatibility guide. Amazon shows ATP kit B-101 is for a 2000 Tacoma 2.7L with A340E transmission.

IT IS NOT! Look at the pic, it has one large outlet, one tiny one. (the port with the cork gasket)

The proper kit has three outlet ports as seen here removed in the pan.

Ignore the Johnnie Walker, thats for me.

The proper kit is ATP B-168 or Beck Arnley 044-0293. It will say its for a Aisin A341E, or/not a A340E, at least on Amazon it says this. It will not mention anything about a 30-40LE A/T.

If you are worried about or are dealing with a leaking gasket:

Its a fibre/rubber gasket, at least the one in the ATP kit is. A little trick i always do with these is take RTV Silicone on my fingers (gloved hand) and spread a thin layer of the RTV on both sides of the gasket, completely covering it. I do this with a generous amount of RTV between my index and thumb, spreading it along the entire gasket.

This will prevent any possible leaks from imperfect surfaces, and not make a mess of excess silicone pressing out when tightening.

I first started doing this years ago when doing oil pan and timing cover gaskets on 5 and 3 series BMWs. I had two come back from seeping oil. The OEM gaskets are just a rubberized metal stamping, not the best for aluminum covers that warp over time. It takes 4-5 hours with a lift to do a oil pan on these, 8-10 hours to do the entire timing case with new chain and guides. Ive never had anything leak again when i do this with the silicone method i described.
