If you disable PDA is that setting retained across vehicle restarts? Or do you have to turn it off every time you get in?

I turned it off and today was way better. Drawback is now it keeps giving me a message that its turned off blocking view of whatever I’m using.

Where does that message show up? In the gauge cluster or the infotainment screen?

I doubt you'll have any issues. I've had two 3rd gens with the older safety sense and they were smart enough to tell the difference between a road hazard and a plugged up sensor. It would just give a warning for system unavailable due to the sensor being covered in snow.

Gauge cluster. It always seems to have some kind of message I am not interested in blocking what I am interested in.

Aren't the messages temporary? And you can close them by pushing the back button?

That's how the previous gen is, anyway.

Okay, that does sound super annoying. Maybe someone will find the techstream solution eventually.

I'm turning mine off because it slows, then suddenly speeds up, slows when a car it forward but to the side, and I only have a 2.5 mile drive to work. MAKE certain losing the traction option works for you.

Yeah tried this but the BRAKE function kicked in while trying to back up with a Kuat Hitch Bike Rack. So I’ll just go into settings and deactivate the PSKB when I have the rear hitch rack loaded (gotta remove it because the garage isn’t large/long enough to keep the hitch mounted.)

Hmmm. I noticed this setting in the menus. It's off and can't be turned on.

Reading the manual (imagine that!) indicates "if equipped". It ain't equipped in mine, apparently. I suspect you only get it if you also have the parking sensors.

so if you went through the entire Toyota manual, and you deleted the phrase "if equipped," it would be a 30 page pamphlet down from 765 pages.

it absolutely infuriates me that there's a one size fits all manual.

I don't know every nuance of my truck, so I have to reference the window sticker, VIN, then dig into the manual just to figure out if I'm actually walking down a dead-end road with this particular section or not. It's the most painful thing to deal with.

Could be. I kinda think it’s tied to the parking sensors. Do you have those?

I’m just gonna try some PAM. Works for my satellite dish.

I’m already ticked having to reconnect my phone Bluetooth manually every single time I remote start the vehicle, and fuss with trailer tow settings that are supposed to be automatic, so I’m not about to go into yet another buried setting. Christ I feel like a pilot doing preflight checks. None of this was an issue on my ‘22 Premium.

As far as one commenter saying his brakes slammed on while parking in his garage, mine slammed on just driving up my lane at 7km/h - on a sunny day! No obstructions that I saw.

I still love this truck and I’m thinking the ‘26 Taco will be a killer vehicle, if Toyota is paying any attention to us.

It will take a number of nhtsa safety complaints and dealer trips to generate a critical mass before this is addressed. The phantom braking is concerning.
