Just installed a set of 265/75/R16 Toyo M/Ts on my 2012 TRD doublecab. Tire shop set them at 42 psi and was wondering about optimal psi on these tires for tread wear? Familiar with the chalk test however it's rained everyday here since being installed...

i kind of assumed low to mid 30s also but other threads about these 10 plys claim it needs to be higher.

Welcome to TW! Only way to get an accurate PSI, is to do the chalk test. Vehicles are always different from one another, so the PSI for one, might be way of for another. I would start at 35 psi, and go from there.

Are they the E or LT rated variant?

I figured chalking is the most accurate. As soon as I get a dry afternoon I'll be sure and perform chalk test.

Alright. 42 won't kill you by any means but I don't even think my 285-70-17s are that high currently. Really more of a curiosity question...but I would follow Chris's advice as it will get you exactly what you need not just my wild speculation

Sounds like a plan . Only got around 300 miles on them but very pleased with road manners/noise.

They are great. I've got 60K on mine and finally thinking about getting some new tires. Honestly will most likely be getting another set of Toyo's if the budget allows me to.

They're pricey but from all that I've read the quality offsets the initial cost. Hopefully my experience will be the same!

They aren't cheap unfortunately but they have yet to let me down. *knock on wood*
