I was asked to change my email and password right after installing the new update. I didnt go into security settings or anything like that.

Just ran the internet connection test and failed the PlayStation Network part. Out of my hands it seems.

Weird. Maybe it has something to do with you internet connection. Do you have Netflix? Can you log on to it?

you were always able to watch netflix on it... the PSN network has nothing to do with netflix so they never went down. I watched netflix a lot on my ps3 since I couldn't do anything else with it.

HAHAHAHA, Sony is definitely trying to kiss the ass of those hackers

From my understanding of WHY, and this is a long story short:

People were buying PS3's and modding them like you would a computer, well Sony was banning the PS3 units and then trying to sue the people modding them. Didn't matter if they won, they had enough money to ruin the customer.

The hackers didn't appreciate it, and systematically took down Sony's websites 1 by 1, and then took down the PSN for a couple days in the beginning of April. Then, made the big attack towards the end of April.

My brother told me he read that this was the biggest cyber crime. EVER. Sounds about right, haha

    I want my free games!

^^^^if that is the reason it's stupid ha. You're gonna hack a network because you got in trouble for illegally modding your PS3? Thats like you getting mad at the cops for them catching you robbing people...

Naw, people were modding their PS3's for fun. It's not illegal, but Sony filed lawsuit anyways. It's like you buying a computer, upgrading it, and being sued for that.

Either way, these hacker fellas caught wind of it, decided that it was fucked up, and they proceeded to hack Sony

But fuck them for ruining my online gaming experience!

And props to them again for inspiring the Playstation Welcome Back campaign. I love free stuff :D
