Hello. I have a ‘24 TRD OR Premium and so far, it’s good.

I want to add puddle lights to the underside of the running boards wired to come on with the bed lights. I believe I saw a post where these could be connected to a BLUE wire from the bed lights but can’t recall where. Can someone help?

Replying to move to the top in hopes someone can advise the best way to connect puddle lights to come on with the bed lights? I’d appreciate any advice. Thanks Folks.

I think you could use a relay switch and connect the switching power to that circuit using a tap-it fuse connector. Find the fuse for the bed lights in the box and go from there.

    Bad info Sagebrush.
OP, identify the wire that supplies fused juice to bed lamps. Use that as a trigger to an added relay for the puddles.

4th Gen has no fuse specifically for the bed lights.

    Another option:
    upload_2024-8-2_2-6-34.png
    Turn on with unlock/lock.

    Or add an ON-OFF-ON switch:

Ok I want to do something very similar- but with the Prinsu Camp lights- 4x0.4 amps (1.6A total.) Could I build a jumper behind the bed light switch on the trailhunters similar to the Dongar dashcam jumpers and just add a line there without an additional relay? Would the existing circuit tolerate the additional load? I don't have access to wherever these electrical diagrams are coming from. (Where are they, btw?)

If I went your route, I'd still add the relay. Even for low amps. Those jumpers are a neat solution as long as they are secured (taped to adjacent wire) in place.

Thanks for the TIS link- I had seen it in the past somewhere.
If I run a relay- where is the best place to tap (ideally without those terrible clamp on wire taps) for switched power?

Use an add a fuse type gadget. But you'd loose the fuse cover. I don't know if anyone makes a taller cover yet.

    USB(s) looks like a candidate.
If you use a battery source (not IGN) then the added lamps can work with dash Cargo switch fused power as trigger at anytime.

Wouldn't each of those accessory switches in the cab have a switched DC power in line? Seems like each of those switches is rated for between 5 and 15 amps, based on the supplied wiring harnesses- if I keep the loads under those rated for the switches- seems like it would be much easier to just draw from one of those switches, plus it's a very short wire run.

Which particular accessory switches are you referring to? The ones that say AUX? They activate the corresponding relay.

Right- but if you connect into the harness before the switch- do they actually have relays, or is it direct power through the switch?

Toyota doesn't use a switch to run fused power, always a relay in the circuit.
    Unused connectors

If you're skilled and daring, this is another option:
Finding Junction connector Q35 and adding a terminal. No cutting into wires or harness.
