Guaranteed a standard marine folding anchor would be as good for way less. Especially after you buried it 2 ft in sand.

 

Has any one tried A marine anchor for vehicle recovery?

 

I never have but I have a friend that swears by it. He used to do it with his old jeep. He always tried to talk me into trying it with my truck but never did.

Bill Burke has it as standard equipment and demos it in his Getting UNstuck video. It looks pretty cumbersome to carry around but it works.

To get it back out of the ground, Burke used a tree saver (or some other strap or chain) and looped it through before use. After you get your vehicle out and the anchor is buried, you can pull out the anchor via the strap.

 

If only he let the air out of his tires... (to 10 psi) he could have driven out without a winch... or never got stuck in the first place. I only saw one tire on each axle spinning (open differentials).
