They’re good trucks regardless of whether they’re assembled north or south of the border. Having to wait for it is a killer! I only had to wait a week to pick up my 2020, but I was counting down the days lol. I had already ordered a few small things for it by the time I got it. That kept me busy during my brief wait, but I really need to work on my patience lol.

*Disclaimer: I’m not recommending buying a bunch of mods to help pass the time.

Literally me right now. These two weeks have been brutal. Almost bought myself some SCS wheels. I think I’ll start off with the pro grille first. Lol

unless if you really need dual climate control I would get the 2020, don't expect them to budge prices on 2021 models off the bat. Today I bought my cement 2020 TRDOR 4x4 DCSB with tech / led headlights. No other add-ons. roughly 6.75% off msrp. Not a great deal, but they are not budging on prices. MSRP was 39465, got them down to 36800 before tll and fees. Also mine was made in Mexico.

If your VIN starts with a 5, it was made in Texas.

I believe! I initially got a 2020 Tundra made in San Antonio. And it starts with a 5. Didn’t realize that. Like I said. Don’t matter to me where it’s made. Still gonna pull the trigger on a 2020 now. So ready for it!

I've had two Tacos that were made in Texas, and next month I have a 2021 coming in that was made in Mexico. They are great trucks regardless.

My vin starts with 3 as did my second gen- so I assume made in Mexico. No sweat off my back.

i use to work R&D for a major Japanese motorcycle/ auto OEM. We had several assembly plants in US and other countries to reduce cost etc. So I have no issues if my truck was assembled in US/ Mexico or Brazil etc. In the end, all is these plants adhere and have strict guide lines that Japanese engineers enforce like no other. I’ve witnessed it first had, the Japanese for most part have QC down to a science and some . So rest assure- our trucks are well built/ assembled. And for whatever reason you have a defect- the Japanese OEM’s stand behind product and honor warranty . I’ve spent so much time testing motorcycles all over the states/ focus groups / testing other OEM’s to compare . I can honestly say, the Japanese make great products and are extremely meticulous . Just my two cents from someone who has worked on the inside .

I went for a 2020 last weekend based on the deal and timing. 2021 would have been nice but earliest dealers locally said they could deliver one was end of October. I wanted to enjoy it before winter set in.

Honda? Spent almost 8 years at HRAO.

Good purchase. My dealer says the 2021 will not have cement. I wanted to upgrade my 18, but keep that color. 2020 stock is terrible by me.

2021 will still have Cement. I think Quicksand is the only color discontinued this year.

Same here, prices suck too. Dealer near me has a used 2019 trd off road dcsb manual, 16k miles for $38k and won't budge on pricing. And a 2018 with similar mileage same build for $36k

I bought my new 2019 in November of 2018. There wasn't much stock left on 2018 models by then since they had stopped manufacturing them months ago in preparation for the new 2019s...same situation will happen again. I got $5,000 off the MSRP on a $30,000+ AC 4x4 w/2.7. November/December is a great time to buy the new model if you are in an area that shuts down in the Winter (I'm in northern New England). Toyota was even offering $1,000 rebates on the brand new models (except Pro) and it was only out for about four weeks.

    Wait and save some $$$

    OP.

Take it from an arm chair / back seat / outside / pretend / fake / wanna be / Toyota executive, you have two basic strategies:

    1) Determine if you need the truck right away. This is a needs versus wants discussion. If you really need the truck now (work, broken vehicle, etc.) then go with the best deal you can on a current 2020. If you get 5% off MSRP, you did great in this environment. Grab the truck. Drive it like you stole it and enjoy! The person who got 6.% off MSRP did great -- the delta between that and 10% is too small to worry about over the life of a ten year truck.

    2) If you can wait, and you don't really need the truck, I am predicting pricing will return to somewhat normal by the end of the second quarter of fiscal year 2021. That means waiting 6 to 9 months. I do think it will be sooner than that as production ramps up and unfortunately demand tempers a little due to greater unemployment (which I feel terrible about for everyone who has lost their job in this pandemic). Toyota has stated they are ramping up production and they expect things to normalize sometime early next year.

I wouldn't get hung up features given there is really no major difference between the 2020 and the 20201. So find a minimum of 5% off a 2020 or sit tight would be my recommendation.

Good luck ! And do keep us posted on what you decide and how it works out !

I'll be waiting. I fall firmly in scenario #2 above, and while I'd like a truck now, I don't need it now. I've been eyeballing trucks since January, so what's another six months or so.

19 to 20: Power seats, android/apple support, bigger touch screens (I think?)

20 to 21: Trim added with a detachable bed cooler....

Other than colors, no reason to wait this time around.

Buying Year end/leftovers usually, means lower pricing.
If you trade fairly often a leftover will be a year older and you get less on trade in.

Ya, it has nothing to do with the features / upgrades / enhancements. It has everything to do with finding the supply -- depending on where you are. The only reason to wait is supply, supply, supply.

 agreed. If you can wait, I'd wait. As much as you want a new shiny truck, take it from someone who jumped the gun and paid more than if I had just waited....wait.

Edit to add: I think the only Tacomas made in SA currently are a specific trim/option, might be manual transmissions only or something like that. Most are made in Mexico.
