    Hi All,

My truck seams to have a good alignment as it goes good on the road and tire wear over the last 8000 has been normal but when I put it in 4 high it has a definite pull to the left. Will pull up the crown of the road. Only use it Durning bad road condition. Has done this sine I bought it.

Taking truck in for its 32000 service soon and want them to check it out but I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this before I take it in. Dealers don't always think things out.

Truck has a 3" Toytec lift (no spacers. Real deal) tires are 275, 70/17

Toyota dealer installed, installed before I purchased from dealer. Had 16.000km on it when I bought the Dealer Manager Demo.

    Thanks

Yeah . . . . all bets are off if it's not a stock truck. Mine tracks fine in all modes.

If these are dealer installed parts, then you may have a leg to stand on, but you will probably need to go to the dealer that sold it. Im guessing the dealer will pin it on the lift or say you must of been offroading, so its not warranty.

Good luck, I have no clue what would cause the issue, but my money is on needle bearings causing a ton of drag.

When I bought the truck on the bill of sale I had them add that if the eqiuipment they add was to cause any issue it would be covered under the basic warranty but would not apply to the extended warranty I purchased. Still well within the Toyota standard warranty. I suspect they may give some push back but I am hard-headed. Thanks for the tip on the needle bearing causing drag. Will have a mechanic friend take a quick look to see if that may be the issue so when I chat with the service manager I can highly suggest he have it checked.
If anyone else has any ideas what may be causing the pull i would appreciate your thoughts.

If your needle bearing was causing that much drag. The heat alone would have grenaded something already. Could check but I would look elsewhere.

I know its a long shot, I cant think of anything else that would cause a pull condition only in 4wd.

Seems normal to me. Your driving characteristics will change slightly in 4wd and your steering and front wheels will be more sensitive to road conditions and variations since they are pulling the vehicle through instead of being pushed.

I drove around in 4 hi for about a week when I was getting my rear driveshaft fixed up (fwd). My truck would torque steer to the left considerably in these conditions, so I'd assume you are describing the same thing.

What tires do you have? Some have notorious pulls to one side or other, and tire dynamics can be different with power to the front wheels.

Forgot to mention torque steer in general is pretty common in front wheel drive cars. If you surf net there is a lot of info on it. Also several sites indicate a lift can exacerbate torque steer due to changes in geometry.

i dont doubt what U say if U can get that ..............good luck
yet anything other than OEM & dealer serviced is NOT usually covered

i think what U have is ' torque steer '

1 way to narrow down any issues is find a level dirt patch
    set it up 4WD
jump down on throttle..............................U dont have to be KING KONG to lay down tracks from ALL wheels Both axles

UR tracks will Show whats pulling True........or NOT

U will see any dicrepancies in the dirt tracks

    NOT a ditch
    NOT doin Do Nutz
    NOT doin Monsta wheelies

enuf throttle to lay down several feet o tracks

This guy knows. And to add to that for those interested, in drag racing, when you hammer the throttle, the right rear goes down, and the left front goes up. Another form of "torque transfer", or science. Lol.

I think I am - Just wondering if it is normal - first of many 4X4s I have owned - modded and not modded that does this - have had - Jeeps (Wranglers, Liberty), F250s, Chev and GMCs, Dodge, SUVs, Bronco and Bronco II
I never remember any of my other 4x4s doing this

I would agree but this happens with very light on a flat or decline and even when coasting down a hill no throttle - in 4x4 it will climb up over the road crest - I even tried driving on the shoulder to see if it was the uneven road surface - still made its way from shoulder up to center line. It does not seem to be the normal torque steer.

Those typically track straight. Just a thought.

Okay, I thought we were done here. Lol. Yeah, you've got a issue. No longer has anything to do with torque if it does it with no power, down hill, off the gas, no tail wind. Everything needs to be clear to do a diag. First thing I would do is cross rotate the front tires. Takes little effort, driveway and done.

See thats why Im thinking something in the bearing maybe... IDK enough about how the front works to make a good guess, but it has to be something dragging on a single side that is only used when 4wd is engaged.
