well said sir. and that is why i did not unload on him through the door. I am newly married and have a son on the way. I will do whatever I can to protect my family but I also dont want to end up in jail for something that could have been prevented

In New Mexico, our laws are pretty dang lax. For fun, we had a buddy sling an AK on his back and ride around town on my motorcycle. We're an open carry state, so that ain't a big deal at all. As far as shooting people goes, you've gotta wait until they're in your house, (lawn killings don't fly), and you need to warn them, at least two times of several things: you're armed. you're in fear for your life. you are going to shoot them. And then thats that. We're also a conceal carry state, with an 8 hour class and some range time, you can carry an gun anywhere on your person, concealed or open, so long as it isn't to obvious places (alcohol establishments, federal buildings, etc). Pretty cool stuff.

Because liberal states are so damn sue-happy, you do need to watch your ass. In most cases, its better to just point the gun at the bastard long enough, (and pray he don't have anything to shoot you back with), then run up and hit him with it while he's frozen. Otherwise, you could be screwed -- as outlined in the Ca. posting...

in texas you can shoot if they are on your property. you can also shoot from your vehicle or place of work if your life is in danger.

"The Texas law protects citizens when an intruder is:
1.) committing certain violent crimes 2.) unlawfully trying to enter a protected place or, 3.) unlawfully trying to remove a person from a protected place.
The law also provides civil immunity for a person who lawfully uses deadly force in the above circumstances. "

The only way that will protect you is if the cops are already inside with you at the time of the intrusion. not bashing cops, But they can't predict the future and stop crime from happening. They show up after the fact to collect evidence.

I am pretty sure Texas has a good castle law. Where you can shoot people for trespassing.

I have the cruiser model of this with both pistol grips. I have shells that take 8 shots, and they will cut a car in half (quote the manufacturer). I dare someone.

your LE arent you tiger? what state?

texas is pretty good about letting homeowners defend themselves so Im not really worried about all the red tape if it boils down to having to pull the trigger. But it was still pretty scary

I have both. You can not go wrong with either one. Your AR15 - is it full sized or a carbine?

im sure you know this but here is the one for SC

This bill authorizes the lawful use of deadly force under certain circumstances against an intruder or attacker in a person’s dwelling, residence, or occupied vehicle. The bill provides that there is no duty to retreat if (1) the person is in a place where he has a right to be, including the person’s place of business, (2) the person is not engaged in an unlawful activity, and (3) the use of deadly force is necessary to prevent death, great bodily injury, or the commission of a violent crime.

    http://www.sled.sc.gov/ProtectionOfPeople.aspx?MenuID=CWP

seems to be the same as texas.

What i was stating is that it takes five minutes for someone to break into a house, And cause great bodily harm, Or death. Whats the average 911 call response time? I know LEO's in my city, And they have told me a dozen times what to do in a home invasion situation. And it isn't call 911 first.
It boils down to i would rather go to jail defending myself, and my family. Rather than be dead myself.
