OK I am going to get flamed for this but here are some humble thoughts regarding the original topic Mudflaps.

    • If mudflaps are such a necessity why is that manufacturer's ship 1000's of cars and trucks to dealers who then sell them without mudflaps as well?
    • For those of you who would get really pissed and chase someone down that gave you a rock in the windshield have you ever consider staying back the proper distance from the car or truck in front of you? 9 times out of 10 if all of us did that (myself included) it would deter the rock or any rock from hitting the windshield. But no instead we are too concerned about someone in the lane next to us taking that open space. Yes I do this too so I am not trying to be better then others here.
    • Do we all not agree that driving is hazardous? There are unsuspecting hazards on the roads everyday not just a small rock hitting my windshield that OMG now I have to replace it. Might as well make some good use of my insurance that I pay for.
    • Someone said on this (I believe the now banned Skillet) that cops need to find something better to do. No they are doing exactly what they are suppose to be doing that is enforcing the law. It should be read that law makers should work toward better laws for our society rather then the length or existence of my mud flaps.
    • But you without dumb or silly laws like this the police unfortunately would not have a "reasonable doubt" to pull someone over and actually stop a much larger crime in action. There are so many "loopholes" in the law that lawyers exploit that police officers have to be extremely calculated and precise in how they apprehend a suspect so as to not get the trial tossed from court.
So with that being said I currently do not run mudflaps on my truck as I off road quite a bit and yes there is a major inconvenience to remove them for trail rides. But it is also to keep people off my ass while I am driving down the road. If there is such a law in Colorado I do not know about nor do I want to know. While ignorance to the law is not an excuse if I should get pulled over for something of this nature I can honestly say I did not know, I will get it corrected, and hopefully leave with a warning. :)

    neglect, mostly.
what gives you the idea this thread is about mud flaps? . . . do you hate cops or anything like that? abortion? gay marriage? . . . were looking for another good controversy to fire up, cause that's what sparks interest around here.

    Nope none of that.

But curiosity did get the best of me. So after researching Colorado law I will be looking for some "splash guards".:)

Not to be a dick, but barring traveling a 1/4 mile behind someone, I find the closer I am the less likely to get a rock on the windshield, maybe in the grille or bumper, but not the windshield. When I fall back enough thats when I hear shit pinging off my windshiled.

You sir have an invalid arguement here.
