    EDIT: OP, good decision.

    X2

Lights are not a fashion statement. They are a safety device. Other drivers depend on yours working and being visible.

Tinting them is stupid and selfish.

Don't put any type of paint remover or thinner on your lights. The plastic will fog up as many of these chemicals can actually melt certain types of plastics. The easiest thing to do is to wet-sand the tint off and reclear or buff/polish them. It'd also be cheaper than buying new ones.

I tinted my rear lights on my old '96 integra. Couple of months later I changed my mind. I Just poured some gasoline on a rag and wiped the black off. Poured some more, put some elbow grease into it and, Presto!!! All gone!!!

They will fit. I have the same black housing tail lights. They also said they were for 05-08.. mines an 09.. they fit and work perfectly. IMO, aftermarket tail lights > tinted tail lights.

A few mods here and there and counting....
Werd! Personally, I think it's a stupid mod because on numerous occasions, I can barely see one's tinted taillights in the glaring sun. I always keep a distance when i see anyone with modified taillights. Pretty strict here in Cali when it comes to tint on headlights/taillights and I've known several friends who gotten tickets for it along with the officer's initial statement towards safety to other drivers. Stay safe out there.

Tinting tail lights is not a completely horrible idea.... but it is horrible to black them out. I hate that, especially on a bright day.

That being said, mine are tinted... a light 3 coats on mine. I made sure I had adequate light transmission.... I also lightly sprayed over the actual brake lense area.... I have had no issues, no complaints, and it looks good. Done deal. The law is not written to say that tints are illegal, but it is written to say that minimum amount of light must be transmitted.

If you have a operating third brake light on your cab that is not tinted you should have no problems with insurance if you were in a accident. There are hotrods here in MD that run the little dime purple lights, that you can barely see, so sounds like the LEO was bored.

X2 It is moronic to deny the car or large vehicle the time necessary to stop safely. It's not cool to endanger people. Cop should have given you a $1000 fine for stupidity and selfishness.

so what your saying is that people who tint their taillights are stupid?? you might want to re-phrase you quote, like i said mine are tinted and there is no issue with how bright they are.
Now, i can see the issue with the tinted ones that are completely "blacked out" but not ones just tinted to get rid of the pinkish tint the factory one have.

No, if you read my post,I was referring to people who by tinting their lights reduce brightness enough to limit stopping time to the vehicle following them.
If you have tinted yours, and you are positive that the brightness when applied is equal to the required brightness by law, then good for you, and you would NOT fall into my stupid and selfish category.
I'm sure you would agree that impairing any other vehicle on the road is foolish.

I say tint them and just put new led bulbs in there. That way you have the best of both worlds. Looks and safety both are still there.

something to think about. If i am traveling behind you and you have to stop in a hurry for some reason, i don't see your brake lights in time and i rear end your truck. If me or some of my family get hurt and i find out you darkened your tail lights to look cool, i'm going to be pissed. I'm probably going to see you in court. Its a possible scenario
