Pulling After Improperly-balanced Tire

    I got some new tires and rims put on a while ago, and right after I experienced some pretty wild shaking at around 100km/hr, took it back and they found that a tire was not balanced. They balanced the tire and I was on my way. Since then I’ve felt like the truck pulls to the right a bit… it could be all in my head, but I can’t shake the feeling that something’s up.

    Would the improperly-balanced tire possibly mess up my alignment?
    I really don’t want to pay for them to put it on an alignment rack if there’s nothing wrong. The truck only has 5000km on it.

    I know that most roads are designed for drainage towards the curb, so there is often a sort of natural pull due to that. But it’s worth mentioning that my gas mileage has been much worse since swapping the tires, too (which I realize could be due to the different tires, though I didn’t size up or anything).

    Thoughts, anyone?

    Check tire pressure, swap wheels left to right and see if the pull is still there. If it changes sides then there is a issue with the tires. If it does not then the alignment is off.

    I've never been charged to have them do the quick check at the dealer.
    Besides, alignments are covered for 12mo/12,000mi. Factory alignment is shit or turns to shit after things get settled in. Regardless, an alignment is not a bad idea.

    You by chance have Cooper or Falkens?

    Cooper AT4S, yeah. The tire shop said they were tough to balance, which is what has me a bit nervous about the tires too.

    Do the side-to-side tire swap first. If it is the tire, it's coned. An off center belt will lead to tire conicity and balancing difficulty. The two brands I hear most often with this problem are Falkens and Cooper.
