Haven't done it yet, but within the next few days. Looking at a 2011 Tacoma TRD (off Road) 4x4, 4.0L V6, Access cab.

Dealer is asking for $26,000, its got 40k miles on it. One previous owner, who also happens to be the head mechanic at the dealership. Drives good, looks good, etc, etc...

Any opinions on that deal? Anything I should look for specifically?

For example, I read a thread on here about a guy who was buying used, and noticed rust on the frame. Closer inspection on his back under the truck showed holes in the frame! (older truck obviously).

I'm super psyched, seems like a decent buy to me, but I'm just a newbie to Tacomas and trucks in general.

Thanks in advance, and hello to all!

For that price man you could buy a new Tacoma for about 4k more and have a TRD package as well.

Yeah, I was thinking that as well. So I'm also gonna look into lease options.

Problem is, in NH they kill you on registration fees for new vehicles, it's less for used.

You live in a small state. Look at your surrounding states and find which one has the lowest sales tax and go there.

NH has no sales tax, so I won't be paying that. They base your registration fee (yearly) off of BB value, weight, mileage, etc... So I'd like to minimize that.

Also, a new (2014) Tacoma with TRD Off Road package is around $34,000 according to their website.

So, that is why I'm considering the 2011 TRD Off road with 40k miles as I described above. $26k doesn't seem too bad.

Either way, super psyched to get out of my commuter car and finally get a truck!
