I recently installed the AAL from Wheelers to the Dakar packs in my brothers '02 DC. Was a pretty straightforward job, took just over 2 hours. Impressed with the look so far but I am noticing that it seems to want to pull to the left now while driving.

My first thought was that there was more than one centering hole on the spring perch on the axle housing but from the images I can pull from google it looks like there is only one. Can anyone think of a reason for it to be pulling?

    Thank you.

If there is more than one hole on the axle perch (I have seen this), and you used the wrong hole on one side, then one of the rear tires will appear more off-center than the other side. Have you checked that? Take some photos.

    Passenger side.

So there are some axle housings with more than one centering hole?

    Thanks.

From the images I could find on google there was only one hole on the perch but I thought I would check with the experts. It looks pretty even to me.

Are sticking calipers an issue on this generation Tacoma? I have replaced a couple on 4th gen 4Runners.

In those pics it looks like the passenger side is closer to the rear mud flap than the drivers side???? May just be the angle of the picture???

It does look like it in the pics. I will verify it in the morning. Thanks.

Man, I think you might be right. Just went out and did some rough measurements while it was raining only a little bit. It looks like the passenger side axle is farther back than the drivers. Wouldn't that make it pull to the right instead of the left?

Has anyone else seen a first gen tacoma 8" rear axle with more than one centering hole on the spring perch? I'm gonna drop the axle on Friday (my soonest available time), just curious if others have seen it.

    Thanks for the help TW.

Make sure you are not at full droop on the springs before you tighten up the shackles.

Good to know but I did not mess with the shackles when I installed the AAL's.

I gotcha.I've had shackles hang up and cause this problem.I'm new to Tacoma's but def not new to suspension. I've drove low riders and lifted trucks all my life.

I'm not certain on the springs, but I know for a fact that you don't tighten control arms up until full weight is on the suspension and from what I remember reading from me just doing leaf packs and coils shackles are the same way to keep from binding.

My bad...its fixed now.if you tighten them up at full droop of the springs you run the risk of them binding up

I didn't touch the shackles when I did the AAL.

I think I'm gonna drop the axle and check out a few things. First, see if there is more than one hole on the spring perch. If so, I'm confident that is my problem.

If there is only one hole for the leaf spring bolt, then I guess I will loosen up the shackle bolts, put weight back on them and tighten. Give everything a once over, once again.

The vehicle has a lifetime alignment. They would be able to confirm that the rear axle isn't sitting correctly, right?

If they do a 4 wheel, should. Not all alignments deal with the rear axle, just the front.

On the shocks? I don't believe they are adjustable. I think he has the nitrocharger shocks?
