nice!! thanks for the update:D I do have some mod money in reserve for this when it gets tested and some guys have been running them for a while with no problems. Putting the thing on is another story...

Any thoughts on warranty issues? the counterbalance effect still is ringing in my mind that it could be an issue. How can it not be??

Let us know what you here. The balance issue I keep seeing might be a issue. I still rather under drive the water pump and power steering. No cash right now to make the custom pulleys.

Ok I keep seeing the "will i lose my warranty if I mod" question.

YOU CAN MOD YOU CAR and not be out of warranty.

John .. VS (I think GM - will need to find the court case)

At any rate if you put a intake on your truck and the motor blows up. It is the burden of the dealer to show that the intake was a direct cause of the failure and not a design issue. In most cases dealers just say that is what it is andblame you the owner. However they need to prove that you are at fault. So it you want to use a supercharger go for it. Even if the motor dies they have to prove that the part cause the failure and not a design defect.

The question really should not be on warranty but how much are you willing to prove your case in case the worst happens.

If anyone know the court case I am referring to post a link.

throwing the crank balance out of wack is an easy get out of the warranty issue for Toyota any day of the week. I want to see how these are for a while. I want an underdrive one too and right now 140 seems a little high for a lighter one IMHO

Is the pully throwing balance from those people who have them?

Since it seems you and I are the modifiers here on a lot of the threads, care to help me do some performance R&D?

Hey M3dragon.. I ordered this couple days ago. Will set up for install next weekend around 24 Oct. I will post install and seat/ass dyno gains. Mite hit you and tacoskim up if I run into issues w/install.

Cant go wrong with reducing weight on a part that rotates constantly... Wish it was smaller also, but beggers cant be choosers. Plus most the Xrunner guys seem to be into this install, and they are the ones that are looking to increase the revs....

anyways, wish me luck... Hopefully more trial than error:D

No it won't. The 1GR is internally balanced. So a counter-weighted harmonic balancer is not needed. This pulley does not have a harmonic damper though, just an FYI.

It is quite a bit lighter then the stock. I had a chance to meet up with NST and see the crank pulley, as well as their new Alt, water pump, and power steering pulleys. Combined this set weighs SIGNIFICANTLY less, and would provide good acceleration increase as well as better fuel mileage as long as you can stay off of it.

I helped install one on my Bud's X-Runner last weekend and she said her truck has better low end now and MPH.. She seems pretty happy about it

Very nice to know, but did you just contridict yourself there?

Ok, I need to find away to put this mod in my budget now!! After that, I need to find time to get down to see Shane to put it on :D

Keep up the reports, any dyno results from the X-runner guys?

Nope. A harmonic balancer/damper are often one in the same. A balancer used to balance the engine, and the damper used to absorb vibrations (in a nutshell). The NST crank pulley does not have a harmonic balancer or damper. It is not necessary to have a counter-weighted balancer on the 1GR due to internal balancing. BUT most engines still recommend a damper. Though NST has said that our motors are fine without the damper..

No dyno numbers yet. And you won't see much, maybe 3-4 hp. But it will feel like a lot more. The pulley reduces drivetrain loss and efficiency of the engine. So the engine isn't making more power, just better use of them.

I sure hope your right about the balencer? If you destroy your motor your going to wish you spent $140.00 on a BJ? Why can't you get a bigger pully for the P/S & W/P. then your alt would still work properly, and no risk, prob cheaper too. V6 engine's vibrate notoriously. The old 2.8 S-10 comes apart quick.

OK how is dropping the weight able to yield any gains if they are not under driven? I understand on the crank but the other parts?

I agree, leave the crank alone. Those NST pulley's are only lighter, I'm sorry but I just can't believe that a few less ounces of reciprocating mass is going to amount to anything? Percentage wise it's nothing. Underdrive is your only chance at gaining something?
