I'm in the 'not a fan' camp on these. In my experience, people not paying attention will still not notice you. My job requires I do lane closures. My work truck is equipped with strobe lights and an LED light bar. Despite all that I still generally end-up with idiots following me into a lane closure or wondering why I stopped in front of them.

Jev425, welcome to TW. If it were me I'd ask the dealer you bought your truck from to remove the flasher thing if you don't want it.

Hmmm..but if you're sitting at the stop light hasn't the flashing already stopped and now you're like any other vehicle with solid on brake lights waiting to be smashed from behind at full speed?

Mostly electrical shit that nobody cares about.
    NJ/NYC here. Not a fan.

I know this is supposed to be a safety device, but more often than not I see this installed on a slammed 2008 civic with bright white LEDs for brake lights in stop and go traffic. Even if they're installed modestly, they're fucking awful for city driving.

Check your local laws for these. It used to be (and am far as I know, still is, but I haven’t checked in a while) illegal under federal law for a dealer to install these. While it was legal for an owner to install, but they were still illegal to use (good things our laws make sense…). They are also expressly illegal in quite a few states, where states like California (? Testing my memory here, so don’t hold me to any of this), they are legal as long as it doesn’t flash more than 4 times and longer than 4 seconds. So check your local laws. That being said, I do believe they are pretty easy to install (I’ve seen it done, but no personal experience).

Mine came installed from the dealer and it was a $399 "add-on" on the window sticker. I told them to take that off the price because I wasn't paying for that, they were hesitant but they did. I ended up taking mine off the truck, it was installed under the trim piece under the rear driver side door.

I had them take it off mine, got the hard sell to leave it on. Didn't budge salesman had it of I less than a minute. When I mentioned that you could get them on Amazon for less than 299. and the guy had it off faster than a hooker dropping her pants at the the site of c-note.
