I am purchasing the toytec 3" lift with bilsteins & AAL(I work at toyota and get a good discount on toytec. Question is, I will doing some mild off roading, and need to know if I should upgrade to remote resevoirs/Toytec boss shocks in the rear, or if the Bilsteins will suffice. I am getting SPC UCA's as well. Any advice is much appreciated as I am new to the offroad scene. Thanks!

Well seeing as how you are in Texas, most of the offroading I've done in Dallas/Houston has been stellar with Bilstein 5100 front/5125 rear. Mostly slow inclines/declines with some ruts here and there, mostly low speed technical courses.

It depends on your style of driving though, in California where they have lots of ruts and whoops, shock oil tends to heat up faster due to more aggressive cycling of the suspension. If you like to fly on the beaches here at higher than usual speeds, remote reservoirs would be a good match.

I would say it's not required but it would be nice insurance. It wouldn't hurt to buy the best suspension you can afford but it probably won't make you any better offroading than a mid level setup.

Thanks for the insight, I'll be heading to Colorado within the next 6 months relocating. So, would be more that type of terrain.

IMO the bilsteins should treat you good. I lived in Colorado all my life up until I moved to Idaho last September. The mountain roads range from washboard to rock crawling. Rainbow falls between Deckers and Woodland Park is an awesome spot be sure to make some friends that have been before. I’ve gotten lost a couple times myself. Enjoy Colorado!

Thanks! Looking forward to it everyday. Time is flying and it’s upcoming quickly. Just trying to decide if saving the $200 difference is worth it!
