Why is so difficult to purchase any type of vehicle nowadays with cash in hand? I walk into 6 Toyota dealerships from Key West to Miami and was turn down every single time. Finally drove all the way to Fort Meyers in order to get a deal in a 2017 Taco. Why dealership want to finance everything & pass in a sure sale cost you paying the vehicle off?

Because they make money on financing and it's hard to pull a fast one on someone when there's nowhere to hide hidden fees. They want to take you for all you got. They don't care if it gets repo'd in a couple months, they got their money.

By "cash" do you mean actual currency (paper, coins etc)? Or are you talking giving them a check or certified money order or something else other than financing?
Currency, may make you look like you just walked away from committing a bank heist!

We wrote a check for 40 thousand dollars and they took it with great respect and willingness ... I cannot imagine one single dealer let alone 6 of them turning down a sure sale, cash or otherwise.

I walk in every dealership with my debt card with the intention of buying a vehicle. Nothing else, no extended warranty, no Lo-Jack etc etc. All I heard was a bunch of BS on why I should never purchased a vehicle out right without financing. Only in America nowadays...

Gave my dealer a personal check for $1000 when I ordered the truck ...and then, on delivery, gave them a personal check for the balance - no questions asked. Having purchased several vehicles over the years from them probably did not hurt. I asked how many sales were like this and the response was immediate -'quite a few'. - Clay

Perhaps you weren't offering enough cash.

I understand that, but don't understand why they would turn down a sale, for what you wanted and nothing else.

Fees on debit / credit cards (for them), back end earning on finance and the extra 1% hold back from TFS (if they can hook you there) are all motives for them to attempt to get you to finance.

Don't know what dealer cost is that particular rig. If your offer was within their profit range, I can't imagine they would let you walk

    A few things
I sense there is more to the story. Any store anywhere, if you walk in with money to buy their product they will sell you their product. I paid cash for my truck with 0 argument from the dealer.

Anyways I found a good deal down in Fort Meyers & I walk out the door with a 2017 SR5 access cab for 27.5. My gain there lost... I'm glad a got turn down more then a few times..
