I would say that the needle attachment should slide under the clamp and boot together. Just roll the wheel so you can see where the clamp was crimped. This should be a lil raised area and would be the best spot/chance of sliding under both. As for how much...just pump till your tired. That little needle attachment only let's out so much grease. Or test it in a Dixie cup to see how much comes out with each pump. Then guesstamate by counting the pumps.

@BigJimmyP - I don't know if you could get just the grease from Toyota or why you'd want to - I'd just get a new boot kit - they are cheap. This is the kit for a 2011 second gen. Less than $50.

I like this, most importantly it is the least time consuming and think it may work. Worth a shot anyway. I'm a single daddy that has his two awesome kiddos 100 percent of the time, so time is a precious commodity for sure.

Now when that cv boot/joint finally takes a sh*t, I'll be back to this thread for a refresh. Thanks for the heads up. I figured they would be a lot more pricey!

I've heard about sliding a basketball needle under the boot and filling but I have no idea how you would attach it to the grease gun. I'd probably replace the 2 clamps if I did it this way and was 100 percent sure there was no punctures or tears.
I punctured one of my boots on an angry stick and just ended up swapping the boots for a set of the SDHQ race style boots. Only a couple hours of work to fix it correctly.

You know, now that I think about it, I did have a dream that I ran over my ex-wife. I think she was wearing a purple tank top. Ah, nevermind just wishful thinking on my part.

Few years back after a long nite out took a few friends for a rip threw the woods and the next day I noticed my drivers side strut had blown out and lost all the fluid and I had a stick go threw the boot on my CV and lost all the grease on the ride home well that was like 4 years ago and I drive the truck everyday in new England weather and the CV axle is still holding strong I'm sure theres plenty of dirt and water in it couple times a year I'll pump a lil greater in threw the hole and I use 4wd atleast once a month but still doesnt make any noise and spins just fine yota quality

I’m starting to think Toyota’s don’t even really need fluids. My truck went without any power steering fluid in it at all for probably 100k miles. When I got the truck the PS didn’t work at all. I fixed the massive leaks, cleaned the reservoir, filled her up and she’s just as quiet and and smooth as it could be. The oil, it was nothing but sludge about 2mm up on the dipstick and straight gunk. I Flushed that out real well with sea foam and she hasn’t used any oil in the 5k miles I’ve had it. With 317k on the clock. These trucks really just blown me away with their rock solid reliability. I would slap some new grease in that bad boy and drive the hell out of it if I were you
