I've noticed when driving with my windows open, having the rear sliding window open cuts down on the turbulence. I can still have the windows open and enjoy the weather but not have everything blowing around like crazy in the cab.

Sounds like a good idea. I noticed the last time I was driving to my cottage that the air from the passenger window would swirl around the truck and hit me in the face. Putting down the driver side window would counteract this a bit, but its so effing loud.

^this. Plus nice to have both open and when you hit the highway, up goes the door window and you still have a bit of open air effect happening

Obviously you don't own a double cab.. Because if you did you would know it is impossible to open the rear window while in the front seat. Also if you're driving with all windows down EXCEPT the rear window you get a very annoying WUH WUH WUH WUH sound with the air traveling through..rear window open solves that problem and i would like the capability to open and close it w/out having to pull off the road and get out of my seat.
    oh yes, AND dogs!

On my DC. without the ability to open / close electrically, it has no purpose.

I installed the power option on mine for the dog if in the back seat but wish Toyota would make the rear window slide completely down on the dbl cabs just like the 04-06 tundra dbl cabs.

Whatever you do don't install a sticker on that sliding window. I had one on there and the clearance for the window to slide open was so tight that it ripped the seal completely out all the way around the window. Got the back window replaced with a solid piece of glass and like it much better because I can see better.

The purpose of my rear sliding window is to drive me insane. I want to open it on a hot day, but if I do, I know I'll have to fight to get that seal back into place. If Toyota didn't want almost 4 digits for that $5 gasket I wouldn't rant and rave about it!
