I called back and asked to speak to the manager. Showed my ass a little and explained how I thought it was ridiculous that I have a truck that has a way better suspension under it than factory and they want to blame that for the vibration as an easy out. He asked me to bring it back up there and apologized for the mechanics behavior. He ended up swapping tires from a brand new truck onto mine to see if it was possibly the tires. Turns out one of my tires was the problem. Vibration went away when I upgraded tires.

Yes they can... as an authorized agent of Toyota. The dealer is the first level.

Don’t waste your money on the TRD CAI it’s the same thing you have already except it has TRD stamped on it. You will see no performance upgrade from it. Unless you want it to say TRD then go for it.

Welcome to Tampa, Florida for that matter, and stay away from Courtesy Toyota if that's the one you visited. Talking from experience.

Some customers qualify here as well. Entitlement runs rampant these days.

Don't get me wrong. Not a dealer fan. But work with the public in any capacity for a while and you'll realize the door swings both ways.

They are the authorized agent to perform the work...sure they can deny a concern or complaint that’s why claims are always heard before complaints and the dealer paperwork reflects that.

No, they can deny a warranty claim. Toyota proper can uphold or overturn their decision, or inspect it themselves.
How in the hell do you deny a concern or complaint?
Another thing, every dealer has what's called a "goodwill" apparatus, meaning a customer can come in with 36,100 miles and the dealer can grant him warranty on a component that expired a hundred miles ago. It's totally up to the dealer because that "bucket" is not unlimited.
There are a lot of shitty dealers out there but there are quite a few that are pretty good too.

Dealers are pretty much worthless, they often bring little to no value to any part of the auto purchase and ownership

Let me put another way...when you convey a warranty issue to the dealer they reduce that to writing with the following: customer states, customer concern or customer complaint is this....then go on to describe the issue. They never use the word claim because they don’t have the authority to deny a demand to perform on the performance contract between the owner of the vehicle and Toyota.

Sure goodwill is a contract between the owner of the vehicle and the dealership so they can do whatever they agree to with the owner but Toyota is under no obligation to perform.

Most people go to the dealer first for warranty work as that is the custom but the only way to file a claim is to contact Toyota’s agent for service of process in Plano Texas customer care center and open a case.

So, if I have a thousand miles on my new truck, no mods anywhere, I go around a corner and my radio falls out.
I take it to the dealer and he finds there were no screws installed. They immediately tell me it's a warranty claim and they schedule me in to fix it. I'm sure internally they report it to Toyota and charge Toyota for the labor and screws but to me Joe Customer it's the dealer.
How is that NOT the dealer approving warranty?

Same if I go in with a lifted truck for a leaking CV boot, the dealer looks at it, notices the axle angle is causing the boot ribs to touch and that is the cause of the leak. They look at me and tell me warranty denied.. on the spot.

Again they tell Toyota but after the fact.

OP keep in mind that all Toyota accessories are covered for one year/12k miles only, even if installed by dealer.

Dealerships are franchisees which are authorize agents to perform the work...work being Toyota’s performance obligations under the warranty contract between the owner of the vehicle and Toyota. In the end The franchisee may know what the franchisor will do because it is a custom but not without the permission of the franchisor. Take Tacomaworld in order to be a member you have to apply... what’s the word “apply” actually mean? To ask, plead, request or beg. When you beg Tacoma world for permission you got to do what they say or your going on vacation!

I understand lol. But to the average owner the dealer is the decision maker. In reality the dealer makes the decision and Toyota goes with it.. mostly.
