Any remedy to this problem? My 2022 limited with 754 miles on it started doing this tonight...
    Not happy!

Foot should be ON the brake when starting and when shutting off.

    Thanks for the comment!

I will check that out in the morning, but I'm not sure that's the issue, that habit is well ingrained after years of push button start Audi's that require foot on the brake.

I posted this a while back and I feel like my 2016 isn’t always shutting off. Assuming one uses the same right hand to both put it in Park as to shut it off, you obviously can’t do both simultaneously. But I do feel like it only happens when I move the shifter quickly and immediately push the button. If I take time and deliberately press the brake, move the shifter fully, then press the button, it always shuts off. I’m assuming the timing of brake switch and neutral switch activation before button press may be critical. Or maybe I can move my hands and feet faster than the electrons travel :)

Not so much the neutral aspect for me but of the numerous times I have had the issue like OP, it's when I am moving to quickly and I typically catch myself not being on the brake and "possibly" short-pushing the kill button. My wife is commuting in the Taco but I'm always hopping in it when it's here. It's our first push button vehicle and I've never perceived the issue as being a fault of the truck but always me not following the procedure.

    Best to keep it running.

Else I agree, bad switch. Just for yucks you could reboot the ECU.

Well, I’ve tried every combination of slow, fast, foot on, foot off, and it’s shutting the engine off but staying in accessory mode - or some like that, looks like I’m headed to the dealer tomorrow.
    What a hassle!

Anyone got this issue fixed?? Mine started doing the same and there are no fix responses, and its weird, mine is a 2020, already swap key fob batteries , thinking about changing the truck battery which should not be the issue but dont want to have the truck towed due to battery running dead due to it not shutting off

Like many commenting on this thread I've been surprised by the lack of much or any info on the pushbutton start. My wife's '16 TRDOR has started "hanging up" on starts, it just keeps going and really not sure if the engine has started or not until it finally stops. Funnier still is this never happens when auto-started with the remote. Pretty weird, and intermittent.

The last couple of years my 2016 occasionally goes to accessory mode after I shut the engine off like the OP. Frustrating. We must be doing something wrong. Maybe shifting to park after pushing stop button. Maybe still having foot on brake. I suspect operator error of some type. Odd that I got this problem after having the truck over 5 years.

I had my brake pedal lock up and start button wouldn't work, on 1 occasion.
I fiddled w it and got it back to normal after a few minutes.
I think I might have pressed the pedal and been moving the shift to park all at the same time.
