    Does it have a aftermarket remote start system. Someone could have added one if so disconnect it and see if that solves the issue.

    I would think you have a switch problem on the brake pedal itself. For safety reasons, all vehicles have two switches on the pedal. One for the main brake lights and a second one for the 3rd stop light. It accounts for brake light switch failure. Have someone stand behind and watch as you press the brake pedal. I'm thinking maybe your 3rd brake light or regular brake lights aren't working either due to bad/disconnected/loose connection switch. Not a fuse. The check charging system message I get on my taco (key based) when I turn on the ignition to on but don't start the engine. In the case of remote start, the pedal switches don't play into the equation. Keep in mind the loose connection could be at the other end and not the pedal switch itself.
