Picked up a 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport with XP package. Traded my 2016 SR5.
The new one has a push button start, and its the first vehicle I've owned with one.
Couple issues- when you turn it off and open the door, it dings. Annoying.. Is there a fix to this?
Also, when I turn it off, the radio turns off- in my 2016, it stayed on until I opened the door, or you could leave the radio on by not turning the key to the completely off position. Any way to do this with the push button??

Check that all the keys are out of the truck, My wife likes to hide her purse in the truck when we are out and her keys make it beep - only if I touch lock though - you can lock from the fob.

Also to turn off and keep the radio you have to leave it in gear, then switch to park after the engine is stopped.

Yup, that. If you open the door first then shut it off it lets you know it's upset. Shut it off THEN open the door, no ding.

This. Also, if u wanna keep accessory on, put the truck in N (or D, R etc) then shut the truck off. It'll keep it in accessory.

Some scanners allow you to change settings, so you could go that route'
normal. Put in park, push button, everything turns off (I have a '16 so I'm not sure how yours didn't do this). Only way the radio stays on is if you put it in neutral, then push the button, and it only goes into acc mode, not off.

You might be right, I think I would turn the key one click off and radio would stay on.
I've grabbed for a key every time I go to turn it off (and it's not there!) It's gonna take some getting used to.
    I love the truck though.

You can push the button once without your foot on the brake and it'll turn the accessories on.

It's like switching from a manual to an automatic, I've had my truck for 18mo and I still sometimes try to reach for the left foot pedal.:annoyed:

another thing, if you turn off the engine and then realize a window needs to be up the windows will still operate until you open the door.

Or you can buy Carista, activate it for the free month, do all your changes and cancel it. $20 to fix lots of things.

On my 2020 you can't leave any truck key in it or it won't lock.

you can leave it in park, dont press the brake pedal and push the start button and hold it for a few seconds, it will kick into ACC mode. definitely doesnt need to be in N or any gear with the truck off.

it’s funny, I haven’t had a manual for over 8 years but if I’m really stressed when driving (extremely rare but has happened before), my mind like regresses and I start reaching for the stick shift to shift gears when slowing down or speeding up as if I’m back in my manual…
