I like my fox lift. Not stiff but yet firm lol I know that sounds contradictory but it’s true

Don’t do OME or Icons IMO. Had the OME medium kit...Way too damn stiff (OME is preloaded like a motherf**ker for heavy overlanding rigs). Icon makes great leaf packs and UCAs... that’s about all I can think of.

Go Bilstein 6112 or 8112....or save up for nice coilovers. It all depends on what you will use them for.

Are you really set on 285’s? Have you driven the same truck and felt how much power loss there is with 285’s unless you regear which is $$$.

May want to do a little more research so you don’t absolutely hate yourself for pulling the trigger on something that you won’t enjoy as much...like I did.

I changed out the OME and went ADS, happy now.

As they say, pay once cry once.

    Good luck

I'd like to add one more thing...

I'm not trying to downplay the quality, ride, or value of Kings, Foxes, or ADS... what I am questioning is what goes on inside a shock tube during impact and how that suspension responds via "progressive or digressive" valving... I think there is a lot more going on in those tubes that contributes to the perceived "ride" than just the kind of valving and that is the "black magic" of the engineers that work for King, Fox, Bilstein, or whoever makes quality shocks.

Couldn’t agree more. And knowing what kind of valving you need for the applications you will use it is important. That said, not all shocks are the same. Fox and King are (usually) progressively valved. Where ADS is progressive compression and digressive rebound.

There is nothing special about a progressive shock. It’s literally a CNC piston with holes and shim stacks.

Ben does a great job breaking down how they work and what they are made of.

Go Kings Go!! But really though, go Kings. Never had Icons on my Tacoma but my cousin had Icons on his Tundra and I’ve driven in it, then we swapped it out for Kings and it definitely was better ride quality both on and offroad. Not sure when the deal expires but noticed you are in SoCal, JH Garage has 15% off Kings right now. Find them on Instagram if you’re interested. You won’t regret it. I’ve yet to hear one complaint from anyone that has owned Kings on TacomaWorld.

I didn't realize the BP51s didn't have greater travel than the stock shocks. One thing I noticed about them is I haven't found many complaints about them. Same to be said about Kings etc.

    Appreciate the input. Still researching.

Ya, I know what 33s are going to do to the final drive. I put 35s on my 2010 and it ran like a pig. So I regeared and it then ran like a dog.

I'll probably regear this one too eventually.
