Push start button doesn't do anything (mod went bad)

Everytime you work on your truck there’s always a chance of messing something up. Pulling that fuse box isn’t more complicated than adding a circuit. It just taught me to be more careful while handling wires.

Well I learned a lot from your experience, and I thank you for your posts.
Just out of curiosity, how did you do that work? Did you pull the driver's side seat out, or just the driver's side kick plate? My back hurts just thinking about it.
Also, what kind of fuses did you find in the interior fuse box? Are they the mini low-profile type?

 

Driver seat stayed there, adjusted all the way back. I remove the floor trim and kick panel. Then the lower dash comes out (3screws). To remove the fuse box, there’s just a couple connectors (those at the back are hard to reach) and 2 10mm nuts. For the soldering, I did it through the opening left by the fusebox I removed. I ty-raped the connector to get it to stay in a position that I could reach it with the solder gun.

As far as fuse types, its the smaller fuse type. Don’t know their name. These are accessible without removing anything. Just lay on the floor and look next to the OBD port.

 

Thank you for the info. Shortly, I'm going to be diving in there to add a circuit or two, maybe even three, a switch panel swap-out, and some new switch installs. There's probably a video on removal of the floor wire chase / trim, kick-panel and lower dash. I'll plan the operation when my wife is out running some errands... She was skeptical when all I was doing was adding a soft Tonneau cover, then when I removed the front grill to add a front facing camera, well...

 

i would stay away from any soldering on the circuit board required, IMO

 

Agreed. Nothing I plan on adding to the truck requires modifying the fuse box. I'll only be adding "add a fuse" taps.

 

I would agree if you don't have the skills, but the op seemed to have some basic understanding of what they were doing based on their quick repair (they even remembered to put the heat shrink over the wire before soldering them together). The mod itself isn't that challenging, seems that removing the board without causing damage is harder than the solder job itself.
